It is not something Mum will do unfortunately.
Been paid and all money is shared out.
I owe 5430.
An ex boyfriend drove past me today. He didn't see me for which I am thankful, it was raining I was soaked and carrying a massive bag of hay! When we dated I got out of debt and had completed my Masters. I would prefer him to remember me like that!!
Weird seeing him. Really unsettled me.
Still no regular CC bill and debt is lower. I had to scrap my old car so that money will go on the loan (it won't be much).

Is there anything your mum would do that could help avoid issues if she has another access problem or has to go into hospital? That was a lot of money you ended up paying out before it was resolved. Could she perhaps move some things to standing order, or give POA to someone outside the family?Throwback moments can be really weird can't they. I do think it's one of the things that makes social media not always helpful.Debt free May 2016... DFW#2 in progress

Have you considered doing a POA yourself. I did mine 7 years ago. It, along with my will & other things, sits in a box labelled what to do when I can't, so I still have it not whoever is going to be the attorney. When I did mine I just filled it all in online & printed it out (it is a lot of pages) then things need signing & witnessing. But I wondered if showing her after the printing stage might help her see, along with explaining that SHE holds it, that it is up to her & her alone if it gets used.

Of course you could try explaining to her that if she gets stuck in hospital it will be the local authority who decides what happens to her & her finances & your family will not have any input. You won't even have any rights to know.

You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x3 -
What is your mums issue with POA? Does she have any specific objections? She can put all sorts of provisos in place when she does it if she has particular concerns or even do a joint POA with you and your sister.
If for any reason she loses capacity you will not be able to access any of her accounts and will need to go to the court of protection which is costly and takes a long time. She is trusting you to take care of her so that involves finance as well as all the things you already do for her.
I would strongly suggest you protect yourself by not paying out for stuff unless you have the money first unless she does a POA. Make sure all bills are paid by standing order/direct debit.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. I am so tired. At some point in the summer holidays I will approach mum and my sisters re POA, but I can't think straight right now.
Not sure about the new look forum.
I don't like change.

Just wanted to post that to see if I knew what I was doing.
Am just surviving at work but it is ok. Today was a good day. Mum and I are fractious but according to my fitbit I am getting 4.45 hours sleep a night so it is partly over sensitive on my part and a total lack of understanding/knowledge on her part.
Once again I have stayed up too late so must go to bed!Nevertheless she persisted.7 -
I checked my pension
The FA I saw a year or so ago seemed to think I would have a great pension. But it isn't. I can't take ANY pension till I am 60 and I won't get a decent amount till I am 67 (plus whatever pittance the state pension is by then. I will essentially be working till I am 60 - I had thought 55, like really thought 55! but no, I am in the wrong part of the pension scheme.
I am going to have to think seriously about what the hell I am doing. I simply don't have enough money to do anything other than survive.
Yikes is all I can say tonight!!Nevertheless she persisted.5
