Hey Buffy. So sorry to hear about your mum. Don't feel you have to be on show with carers, they are there to help care for your mum not judge you. Having carers is a big change but maybe will help more in the end.
Good luck in getting dieter and renege if you aren't sure what is going on you can ask PALS for input and can also ask about seeing a hospital social worker (I assume both are options where you live/hope this is the case).
And let the friends help with anything you need. I had friends help in that way many years ago with an unexpected hospital admission where I freely overwhelmed at home. It meant a lot to me to be helped and a lot to them to be able to help.Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.3 -
Hello
Sorry I haven't been posting. I can't believe how exhausting going to the hospital actually is. Mum is still very weak and tired, not getting worse, holding her own. The nurses are truly incredible.
Jellytotts, thank you for your long thoughtful reply. X I can't remember who else has posted I am sorry but I really appreciate the posts. Previously when a family member has been in hospital I haven't been alone. but now it is just me and it has been hard, I can't lie. I feel quite alone really and you all and my real life friends have made it easier.
The house goes from being ok to being a disaster. I do a day of tidying and then the next day a project and then a day of tidying again, I can see glimmers of hope in places.

Good to hear from you, glad your mum is holding her own. I had 9 months of going to hospital every day, straight after work most days so I know how exhausting it is.Big hugs Buffy, please look after yourself too xxI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

Couldn't sleep last night, I think the house bunny thumps once I turn the lights out and it makes an awful noise. The thing is I never actually caught him doing it so I spent about an hour standing/sitting at the top of the stairs waiting for him to do it to make it was actually him and not an uncoordinated/incompetent burglar/poltergeist..... I didn't hear him and the house hasn't been robbed so incompetent poltergeist it is then.
Reached a new low this morning. Put the tv on and found a movie to have on in the background. It was Scooby Do. It did occur to me this in itself was bad enough but then about 10 minutes in I realised I had watched it before.
I am not handling the current situation well. I managed to do a bit of house work yesterday. no prep for school. I honestly thought today was Wednesday. I don't have as much time as I thought. I have been signed off for a bit longer. I really want to be back at work. I keep typing I need to. I don't want to need to. I want to want to if that makes sense. I want sleep and a tea and blankets and space and things to be organised. I have this little dream about how the house could be if only I could get off my !!!!!! and sort it. But I feel like.......I can't even write down what I feel. I worry, stupidly that I might jinx something. Everything feels very precarious.
I am going to build the last set of drawers for my room. The house is cold - well it isn't it is 22 degrees but I am cold. I will also sort some stuff in my room. That sanctuary I need is a long way off.

I really feel for you. I had an ill parent a few years ago, in and out of hospital with a terminal illness. I knew I was stressed but it was only afterwards that I realised just how stressed. It was very difficult to work and I didn't when they were in hospital for a few weeks. I felt like I was too busy to work but really it was lack of energy and motivation. The hospital visits, organising stuff and worrying occupied my day.
I watched some daytime TV letting it wash over me and it sometimes briefly took my mind off the day-to-day situation.
Hang in there. The thought of dealing with furniture and tidying seems too tiring in your situation but if it helps you then fair enough.
You are doing really well and have little support which must make things tough. Take care.Mortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000
