Today was pretty awful. I was ill when woke up. I sorted a mini Christmas for the family and then went to my sister's. Food was nice. Then I went to hospital. There are three dementia patients on mum's ward. One Screams every single time a nurse goes near her. Today she put her hand in her nappy which was filled and tried to "get" the two nurses trying to help her. When she wasn't doing that she was screaming and crying out and accusing the nurses of all sorts. The nurses on this ward are NOTHING but kind and helpful and never !!!!!! stop running around.
The other one shouts. For hours. She is going to die, she is going die, do you love me, do you hate me...........Over and over. I can still hear her now.
The third one tries to get out of bed constantly. I could not be a nurse. Not ever.
My poor mum, she can't sleep, is exhausted. I am just terrified she will be more ill.
Then I came home to the house rabbit not eating. He was all huddled up and tense. No greeting me or even moving. I gave him pain relief and water. Found an emergency vet in suspect part of town. He has started to eat and move about so am not driving to the vets. However am also not drinking in case. He is eating again. He doesn't look in so much pain now. Ugh. You just never know with rabbits.
I am watching a Whoopi Goldberg film. The Associate. It would never be made now, but it is really good! I do like her tho - I know she has been cancelled over giving an unpopular opinion (I didn't agree with her I don't think) but I still like her. it is 1990s film very much my era!!
I am going to keep watching the rabbit for a bit.
I was really lucky to see Mum today. I am grateful for that.

Hope your mum is able to get some sleep tonight. The nurses do an incredible job and in the face of such heartbreaking situations.

The relief that yesterday is over is immense.
House rabbit is back to normal. Thank God. I feel a bit better, not quite right but had biscuits for breakfast and will have party food for lunch so that will sort me out right ?
Mum has texted to say she isn't too bad so that is good.
I am going to clean the bathroom today. Then get sorted to visit Mum. Hopefully with some news on her return...
There is still huge amounts to do here. But now the pressure (of Christmas) is off I don't feel so bad. I am aiming to have a celebration dinner on New Year's day.
oo I have to order a fancy v shaped pillow for her whilst I think of it. And maybe a tray thing for the bed........
Nevertheless she persisted.4 -
I have both in my basket but haven't ordered yet. Will check with Mum this afternoon.Nevertheless she persisted.1

I have had a V shaped pillow for a couple of years & love it, it does help. I also have a frame in the bottom of my bed which keeps the covers off my feet, do you think she might benefit from one? I sleep on my back & found that that the weight of the covers on my feet made my back bend in the "wrong" way.

You can almost feel the relief in your writing. So pleased you are feeling a bit better just eat a bit of what you fancy its so much better than eating what what others think you should be eating
Your mother sounds as if she is feeling better to the point that she feels it enough to text you, so that is a positive. I threw out an almost new V pillow a couple of weeks ago as nobody wanted it, shame as I could have sent it to you.

I think more people than will admit feel a sense of relief when Christmas Day is over. You certainly sound a lot better than you did. When I broke my ankle I was on a ward with a lot of dementia patients, I hardly had any sleep because of the shouting and wailing 🙁
Do think your mum will be home soon?I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2 -
V shaped pillows are amazing. Hope your Mum is on the mend, hideous to have to spend Christmas in hospital but at least it’s given you time to sort the house. We spent Christmas Eve in 2 different hospitals, the staff were all so lovely despite all the utter muppets they had to deal with.2
