How kind @Sue_UU. I hope you're doing OK (I tried to quote you but it wouldn't let me). DH is not doing too badly, thank you, although the most recent scan (last week) will determine whether the next news is good or bad. He's doing really well monitoring his diabetes numbers, which in turn will determine whether he can have surgery if that is still an option, but some of his other meds are playing havoc with his system to he's tired all the time, breathless easily and has no stamina - not that he was running marathons or anything but even going up the stairs is difficult. We continue to keep calm and carry on, and we see his consultant on 15th August so if anyone has any positive thoughts to spare, we would be most grateful.
Anyhoooo I potted a £2 coin this week, and my Plum pot is up to £476.29 and I was wrong, it is now in a higher interest 'pocket' although I might still add it to my other savings when it hits £500 so I can track it and it helps me get a little bit more in that account instead! But my little spending spree continued and last week I bought a lovely recliner sofa from the British Heart Foundation - it looks way nicer than it did even in the shop, and is clearly quite new. The cushions squeak when it's going up and down, and aren't worn at all, and rather than it just lifting your feet you can practically lay down on it! It's for hubby, sadly there was only the one (gutted for myself!) as he spends the majority of his time on the sofa - since his op late last year and because of his bad knees he just finds it more comfortable. I don't care as long as he gets rest somewhere.
And then to top it all off, yesterday I bought a new car. My current one failed its MOT (first car of my own that I've had fail an MOT in 25+ years of driving) and although I had to fork out for the repair, earlier in the week I was sat in a huge traffic queue listening to the little dinks and knocks it was still making, and just thought the time had maybe come to look at something newer. Mine is low mileage but is 17 years old and showing its age - it'll be a lovely runabout for someone (my brother jokes that its the takeaway driver's car and colour of choice - dark silver Toyota Yaris) but like my previous one, if God forbid I'm in another accident it will be written off automatically because of its age and there are a few niggles that aren't worth spending the money on. So, on Tuesday I pick up my shiny new 16-plate (so 7yo) red Toyota Yaris Icon which has all the bells and whistles. I've borrowed a tiny amount on a relatively short-term to supplement the money my mum gave me which will also help with the increased insurance cost (doubled) and changing of plates. I've also asked if they will fill her up as my old one that I'm part-exchanging - in a classic case of bad timing - has a full tank. The only snag is I'm working Tuesday, so picking up at lunchtime, then going to meet my sister for tea and Indiana Jones after work, with a late finish, and I'm at the office on Weds so I won't have any opportunity to sit in it and play with it LOL! Although I did pair my phone to the Bluetooth while out on the test drive yesterday, ready
