, I had already had the conversation hoping that whoever took it would put it back but no luck so far. What it does mean is that the odd thing we would buy for the family during the sales won't be happening because we had to take the money from our bank account and the belated Golden Wedding Anniversary holiday we were planning (delayed because DH had a heart attack and we're waiting to hear whether he can have a procedure callle a TAVI) won't be happening either.

 @lucyhope this is awful, I do hope it resolves. £600 is such a lot of money 😥😥

I have started my penny challenge, I am going to do varying amounts daily and cross them off on a calendar rather than starting with the 1p (as it would get to all the high amounts next December) or in reverse (as  can't afford all the high amounts now.) So far have done the 73p and the  £1.00 and will see what I can contribute today.

Update: My December E.on voucher for £67.00 finally arrived today! I was so relieved and grateful to see it. Not E.on's fault as the voucher was generated on Dec 6th. However I do think they need to look at other methods of delivery while these postal strikes are on. 
I did try to ring them in between Christmas and New Year  but the hold time was so long I finally gave up. 
It's made me realise I need to be a lot better prepared  for next winter as we won't be getting this help then!

I have decided I'd like the amount in the pot to be a surprise when I open it, so I hope its OK if I keep chatting and belonging but dont update amounts put in?   

Put handful of change in today.

I hate to think it could be a family member but they're the only people who have been upstairs and the adults knew where this tin was kept.

Welcome! Do it whichever way you wish. I do say the amount I pot each time, whether ready cash or virtual, but I’ll be damned if I actually remember what the running total is. 

Speaking of which, I’ve received £14.35 in cash back on my credit card, so I’ve added that to my pot.

Not before time! We received some post today that was sent well before Christmas so perhaps it’s a knock on effect of the postal strike.

I really don’t like to know how much I’ve saved and do my best not to keep track. Sent £1.70 to my Sealed Pot Bank account today though as I’ve found a cheaper way to travel to work so thought I’d better pot what I saved.
Great to see so much activity on this thread. Long may it continue

Not posted for a while but I am still potting away, had 2 FB marketplace sales last week, so £20 went in.
Not sure I will reach the same amount as last year, but something is better than nothing.

Hi Froglet, and a very Happy New Year to you! Your DD sounds just like ours, but we didn't get any coins! 🙄

I now have an SPC account an the bank, so I transfer some from ours into that each week. I never take notice either so it's been a surprise, especially as in 2022 as I wasn't able to put the same amount each week due to the COL. I'm rarely able to save cash now as we have our shopping delivered since COVID began. Also the local shops for odds and ends don't deal in cash any longer. Still, I'm not worried given the health problems hitting the country now!

I'll be in touch just as soon as possible, til then take care. A very Happy New Year D!

Hi again MrsShazbat. It's good to hear from you since your DH went back in after the infection began after his op. I'm pleased he's still on antibiotics and being looked after well. A strange remark from the consultant about your DH, it's a wonder you didn't voice your thoughts. Still, at least you both know he's alright now thank goodness! Little wonder you'd been catastrophising about it since it all began!!

You could definitely have done without your colds re-emerging, though not surprising given all you've been through lately. Take very great care of yourselves and let's hope hubby's infection is soon gone.

Oh Lucy, I'm so terribly sorry to hear no one owned up to having taken up it, however, whoever it was will now have a very guilty conscience knowing you're fully aware! I sincerely hope you told the family what the loss of the money has stopped you from not being able to do. People don't even give a thought to what the consequences of their actions might be! A very sad situation indeed. 

I knew your Golden Anniversary was last year (the one just gone), the same year as T's & mine. Ours is in January, very soon to be 51! It's so sad you won't now be able to have the holiday you'd planned.

I remember your husband having his heartache, but to think that now he won't even be able to have the operation if he's offered it is so very disheartening! Is it worth mentioning to the family that whoever the culprit is can always speak to you alone? I'd give it a go for sure! I hope your pot (the entire thing) is now safely under lock and key, SAFE!!
