I’ve been throwing coins (and the occasional note…) into a pot since New Year and hope to do this as much as possible with an aim of getting to £100+ by the time I open the pot in October.I’m really watching what I’m earning, spending, saving etc this year in different ways and look forward to seeing what I can manage.
I followed the advice at the start of the thread re the pot etc 😀A very warm welcome to you, MrsCautious (032)Please pop your SPC No on your signature as it's a great help. To do so please go to your profile Photo, top right, click, then go to Signature Settings, lower and on the left, be sure to SAVE before fleeing!it's lovely to have you with us. Have great fun saving !!. You'll find your No above in your welcome and on the 2nd Post of Page 1, and please read through the 1st post as it'll let you know exactly how to save with the challenge. We always empty our pots and declare what's in them in October, please make a note of this year's date: 26th October 2022.
Enjoy saving! You save in the very best way possible for you! Even though many of us save via other challenges on MSE, we declare the Total of them all as we're the only ones that regularly save all the Totals, as Ant has said. BEFORE if you wish BUT NO LATER PLEASE!Anyone wishing to join us, it's NEVER too late! So please just ask and youwill be made very welcome.
I’m potting various amounts - it will be wonderful to join you all in declaring all those months ahead. I’ve put my number in my signature thank you, I may well update before the day the challenge ends and will be sure to update as you’ve requested, monthly updates and counting up the pot then seems appealing.I put change in today to represent money saved by buying petrol at a place that’s cheaper than I have been doing. I’ve also previously added some bagged up 2ps and pennies.Have a great weekend.3 -
Hi mummytummmy, I can't say I blame you in using a pot that clinks when the cash goes in. I can't believe that you were over here in the UK prior to Christmas and didn't buy a doughnut!! Or weren't you anywhere near a S....burys?! Don't they have decent ones in Ozzie land then?! What are KK?!MFiT-T7 #17 (Jan 2025) £193k (Apr) £177k (July) £

Hey everyone, quick check in to £0.92 to the pot which included 2p roadkill 😎. I brought a sealed pot from Poundland as it was freaking me out looking at the money I'd put aside in that clear plastic jar and now I can go back to no longer ruining the surprise in October!Debt Free Diary:- The Mental Debt Struggle

Hi Potters,
I hope everyone is keeping well.
Over the Christmas holidays, I looked at my spending for 2022. Decided I can do a lot better in the grocery spending in 2023, so one thing I have done, is joined the Grocery Challenge. As part of that, I thought I would keep a note of the money I save by "downshifting", and put that money in my sealed pot.
So far this year I have saved £1.68 by downshifting (last week bought ASDA own baked beans instead of Branstons, today I bought Tesco Finest bread, which was 70p cheaper than Hovis).Have put the £1.68 saved, in my pot.

Well done @Keedie
We all love a bit of Roadkill.
Downshifting is worth doing @Saver-upper
One of the great benefits of the Sealed Pot Challenge is being able to make those savings meaningful. I saved £3.90 on our delivery coffee and I found my fruit and nut bars on offer for £2 instead of the usual £2.50.
Potted the £4.40 saved which would otherwise most likely have ‘evaporated’ somewhere.27/5/17 Mort 64705 BTs 1904031/12/17 Mort 59815 BT 1673007/04/20 Mort 49208 BT 1572128/07/20 Mort 47387 BT 1263414/11/20 Mort 45905 BT 10134 20/05/21 Mort 42335 BT 686811/08/22 Mort 32050 BT 2915Sealed Pot Challenge 16 Number 56 -
