Yesterday was NSD 7.Was WfH and attended an online conference with the rest of my team… 4 hours screen time! Don’t tell anyone but I turned off my laptop camera and coloured in whilst listening to the presentations… 🤫 The conference is on again today so I’ll probably do the same… I honestly listened better while colouring in than I would have if I was watching the screen.During my lunch break I walked to the local post office to get some daylight and fresh air. It’s getting nippy here now. I could feel my nose turning Rudolph red. At the post office I posted a very, very old iPad that refuses to do or download anything. It’s gone to an online retailer that buys old tech. Hoping for a £6 payout from them (other retailers were offering £1.50) but will not hold my breath.Have a good day turtles xNST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸12

Went downstairs as I had no drinks to take my morning pills and Mr Builder was trying to be here earlier today (Mrs Builder said 10 am yesterday, but I thought that's 11 am in Mr Builder time) but switched on messages and he's had to go and deal with someone's emergency leak. I've had my pills and breakfast so accepted DS3's bribe and come back upstairs for now. Lots to do up here - the broken box gave up altogether in the middle of the night and the remaining contents are on the floor (had already taken out what I could). Chest is okay if I stay still and warm but pulling when I exert myself (lots of nasty stuff came out of me yesterday evening but the fierce headache reduced significantly). So think, then do a bit, DS3 will let me know when Mr Builder arrives (depends on the extent and complexity of the leak and any concomitant clearing up) so I'll stay here until I need more food or my parcel is due (arriving between 1.03 pm and 2.03 pm).11

Hygge Quotes
Simplicity She did not need much, wanted very little. A kind word, sincerity, fresh air, clean water, a garden, kisses, books to read, sheltering arms, a cosy bed and to love and be loved in turn. (Starra Neely Blade)
Napping Taking 'naps' sounds so childish. I prefer to call them 'horizontal life pauses' (author unknown).
Warmth I say to myself that I shall try to make my life like an open fireplace, so that people may be warmed and cheered by it, and so go out themselves to warm and cheer (George Matthew Addams)
Magic To love a person is to see all their magic and to remind them of it when they have forgotten
Reading Who I am, what I am is the culmination of a lifetime of reading, a lifetime of stories. And there are still so many stories to read. I am a work in progress (Sarah Addison Allen)
Nature Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you (Frank Lloyd Wright)
Transformations Most big transformations come about from the hundreds of tiny, almost imperceptible steps we take along the way. (Lori Gottlieb)11 -

Today is my day off. So mad dash around cleaning and tidying and the top 2 floors were done and I was sat with a cup of tea in a messy ground floor by 10.30 and then have spent the last hour swearing at that total Hunt (the mini-budget).Going to make lunch, continue cleaning toward the back of the house, and I will bake something lovely because @grandmanerd told me to (I can't write for toffee, or even draw a bum on a wall, I am talentless in that direction and it annoys me).Still proudly bucking the consumerist trend (I have not done any Xmas shopping) - working in a shop is making me realise how utterly bonkers we have become. I am eyeing up some rather lovely smelling soap bars though ........ but not until payday next.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

@grandmanerd I love horizontal life pauses. Have all my life.
Another NSD. WFH most of the day as DH does anyway. When I came in from outside work before lunch he asked if I brought any food in as there is none. I made him a lovely quesadilla from what we had, lol. Freezer is full for diner options. The only thing we don't have is bread, lol. Will be wraps till a shop tomorrow.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/259 -

The benefits of a horizontal life pause are immense. I was gutted when eldest dc stopped napping, I either napped or caught up with jobs. When 2nd dd was born I couldn't nap because eldest dd had completely given up naps a year previous. Thankfully youngest ds still reluctantly naps, he still needs it but is stubborn sometimes and I definitely need his naps 😂.
Grateful for super duper reception teacher who is going above and beyond to help 2nd dd be more comfortable in class, a take away tea and hot chocolate on a cold damp day. Hope you are all having a lovely day. 😍2024 decluttering Campaign

Mr Builder came but it was very wet. He's got two posts in place but the chances of him electrocuting himself increased as the rains poured. The brickie turned up too. The bad news is that my wall has to come down, the 2 trees in next door's yard which brought down their wall have also undermined mine. The good news is that I can have it how I want it. I was okay with the simplest solution, mending the wall but if it has to come down, I'm having it rebuilt as a low wall and then heavy duty trellis panels on top, so the garden gets lots of light.
I asked DS3 to pass me some of the plates I washed yesterday so I could put them away in the cupboard. He asked how many I could do and when I said only one or two, he said he'd do it and stacked a whole pile of them. Best of all, he wants to knock (or push) the wall down and Mr Builder said it would reduce the cost if we did it ourselves. Gate will be done tomorrow - Mrs Builders son was only available to help early on and because Mr Builder was diverted to the emergency (and it was unsafe to use power tools in the downpour) it was postponed.
I've just received a letter for an outpatient appointment at Wrightington (where I had my hip replacement done) on December 2nd. They seem to be covering all bases, it warns me that if I do need an operation they'll do the pre-op stuff straight away (so I might be there for 4 hours). Ah well it will be another bit sorted and should know if I need an op and on which bit (s) and if I don't, they might give me some ideas on what else I can do. The next couple of weeks are going to get very busy.
I've corrected that exclamation mark 3 times and it keeps putting it back in.
Grateful for good tradespeople, DS3 being helpful and deliveries (and my bed, another early night and a fresh start tomorrow).10
