Yes it is.    I have now found a small electrical shop and asked if they could repair it.   He said he had never done one before but he would give it a go.   The way I look at it, it is for the bin anyway if he can't as it is unusable at the moment.   If he can do it, he says it will only cost £10 !!    So got to be worth a try don't you think?    I now wonder if other electrical repair shows do this.

    Does he know the 'trick'?
Whenever I've had a device with a segment-missing LCD, it usually required the connecting pad to the screen to be cleaned up - and never successfully :-( Perhaps I should have 'ovened' it instead.

there are direct replacements for CM927s (hopefully without the screen issues) if you wanted to do a straight swap

From the conversation I had with him, he had never done one before but was game to have a go, I did tell him that it explained on You Tube how to do it.

A Hive, for example, will also give you phone App control, which is genuinely useful. Around £100 for a 'Mini'.

Too expensive and too technical for both me, a technophobe and my husband who has never even used a computer or a smart phone and wouldn't have a clue.   He can just about use the remote for the TV!

Hang on - the Honeywell costs more! And the App is super-eady to use - that's the whole point.

Seriously, it's great. Gives you to graphs if you want, inc when the heating was on. Turn heating up, down, on, off even away from home.

Totally intuitive to use. If you can set the Honey, this will be a breeze.

The Honeywell CM927 can be bought for £99 on Amazon.    My husband can't even use a computer and hasn't a clue what an app is !!   He worked in Engineering, never used a computer when growing up and can just about use a landline and the remote to turn the TV on and off.   If anything happened to me he would be stuffed for using the heating !

Honeywell say the T4 or T4R.

Also, https://theintergasshop.co.uk/home/99-cms927-7-day-wireless-programmable-room-thermostat-cms927b1049.html etc. (if you search you may find this cheaper elsewhere)

Thanks, the cheapest one I found was £79.99 on eBay.   Although my sister told me not to bother and just use the TRV's on the radiators and turn the heating off and on with those and save myself £80 like she does!    These programmers only last about 6-7 yrs by the looks of it, another throw away item in today's world where eco people and the government batter you to go green and not throw things away with no one supplying the repair shops to provide the solution to repair these thousands of appliances people end up dumping because they can't be repaired.    The repair I found online on You Tube apparently is only a temporary one, there is a more complicated one I found but even the temporary one I would have struggled with.   So I think I will just hang on until they either bring out a cheaper alternative or do without one altogether.   Where do they think people keep getting the money from to keep buying these expensive small items I wonder.   We are pensioners and struggle to live from day to day, let alone fork out for these what I call insignificant "add ons" to the system.

Thanks to all who provided advice !
