I have got a window seat today. Unfortunately low cloud means the view is somewhat obscured. Stripped my bed and remade it before I came. Put away the ironingDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Good morning all,
It’s a chilly morning here, and a blank day on the calendar. In my head I now have 1001 jobs to fill the space.
I ought to go to the allotment (which reminds me - anyone heard from Good Intentions lately?), but I might assuage the guilt by sorting out the bulbs and few pansies that I bought the other day and still need planting.
The venetian blinds in the en suite are REALLY annoying me for being so disgusting, but I need to lower my sights and maybe crack on with some basic flying.
Dinner tonight is going to be courtesy of the sc, so after prepping that will take care of itself. I still have some apples to deal with, so need to check if there is any wriggle room in the freezer yet.
Christmas shopping slot booked. There, I’ve said it. No idea what we will be doing, but I’m not fretting about that yet.The knitting that has been dragging on has got the end in sight. It’s a cardigan with a collar, and I am on to the collar, so the plan is to finish that this weekend, and start something smaller and chunky which will a) grow quicker and b) be a present for someone.
Have a lovely day all. Hugs to all, especially Valli, Iona and Round (you can’t hide, I have “seen” your amazing decluttering this week!) xx10 -
Morning all xx
All flying was postponed while I've focused on decluttering this week - waves to Fayolle 👋 The decluttering must continue but I need to learn how to fly and declutter at the same time! And fit in the paid stuff too.
If nothing else I must sort the laundry and WUDUPA this weekend. Or I'll be eating dry toast all week- no cutlery needed for that- and going to work naked. 🙄. Even I'm wincing at the thought 🤪
I'm up, made my bed, taken my meds, and I'm drinking my first brew.
Hugs
Rxx

Morning all
Hoovering done today (OH did stairs and upstairs as I can't carry the hoover up anymore
too tiring!) and I've sorted out a problem area in the living room which now looks much better. Going to pop to B and M to get a box for the cats toys to go in as they're currently in a torn Apricot bag shoved down the side of the sofa.
What do people do with sentimental things? We've got some bits from our wedding last year that I don't want to get rid of but equally don't really have anywhere to store (champagne glasses that were personalised, an Ikea tabletop greenhouse we used for our cards that has our name and wedding date on it, hoops that held our table centres - unfortunately only 3 so not enough to sell as a job lot for another couple). I'm not fussed on keeping the hoops or the champagne glasses particularly but the greenhouse is nice and would be useful for plants at some point but in this house there's nowhere to put it practically.£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January11 -

Oh my days, how disgusting was that blind. And the one in the bedroom was worse. And as for the windows… So, I have thoroughly (by my slovenly standards) cleaned the ensuite and the bedroom., even getting the vacuum cleaner out. That is enough excitement for today. I am going to return to 🦥 mode now, although I am slightly perturbed to know that it takes them days!! to eat a leaf. That won’t catch on in this house.
SC is doing its thing - trying bobotie for the first time. Lunch, then I will see just how many bulbs I bought the other day.
Kiss-Me - in this house, we hoard everything. I don’t think that is the example that you want to or should follow…10 -
Welcome back Raphael - I seem to remember you're pretty close to me geographically (lighthouse in a local park) and you're quite keen on keeping fit. Have I got the right person?Kiss Me Now - if you're not fussed about something that's classed as sentimental and you want to declutter - let them go. If they're wedding stuff that other peple can use charity shops and scrapstores are the perfect place for them. Personalised stuff is tricky but if you're not going to use it and you think of it as clutter there's no point in keeping it. If the greenhouse can be used as a plant holder now is the time to use it. If not, and it came from Ikea, it can be replaced when you have space for it. I had an attic full of so-called sentimental stuff but a lot of it was stuff that I thought I should keep for sentimental reasons which isn't the same thing. I haven't missed any of it but the breakthrough point was that I realised that seeing most of it didn't make me any happier; space does. It's been a busy couple of days. Funeral of a lovely neighbour, a lot of Flying in the bedroom and bathroom, back on my feet for some of the time which is physically painful but it feels amazing to be vertical again. Taking it a bit more slowly today because I can certainly feel it in my right ankle.Continuing with going through recipe books and declutting any that have very few, if any, recipes that I would actually cook. Such a relief to get stuff OUT, and having a list of meals I actually want to cook and knoing where to find them quickly will really help with meal planning. I need to take over all of the cooking for a while because Belovéd has produced every single meal for over two months and we normally alternate it daily. I know he'd love a day when he didn't have to think about it.The bedroom flying only happened because I wanted to put something away in a cupboard, which should have taken two seconds, but the chaos in there was horrendous so I ended up sorting the whole cupboard out and then realised just how dusty the whole room was when I shut the door and it all cascaded down on me. Belovéd has been wonderful but he hates dusting even more than I do.Better is good enough.10

FLYLADY SECRET SANTAGiven that there are postal strikes planned for the next couple of months (thank you Natty for all the info) it might be a good idea to get this up and running sooner rather than later. I've got four names so far; if you want to add your name to the list please either pop it in a post on either this week or next, or message me. After that I won't post about it again for a couple of weeks, but I will put a final reminder up week commencing 7 November. (I very rarely even log in to Facebook any more, so I might not see a message there.)I've been decluttering Inbox Messages left right and centre over the past year so I no longer have a record of what the rules are. I think they were that we shouldn't spend any more than £5, but postage is now really expensive for large letters that are more than an inch thick so if we can keep the gifts small that will help. Prices, and dimensions of letters, large letters and parcels here.I need to put my thinking cap on because that's tricky!
Better is good enough.10
