@JingsMyBucket, that all looks utterly delicious & well worth going over-budget for - Thanksgiving happens just once a year, after all. We've done Thanksgiving a few times; my dear friend & next-door neighbour was from Oklahoma, but she went home some years ago & we haven't done anything since - it was kind of her day. But I still have the recipe for her re-baked potatoes, and MIssissippi Mud Pie... and wouldn't mind adding one for apple & maple pecan crumble, if you have a moment, please - that sounds like everyone would love it!

@thriftwizard thank you so much for that. You're right regarding Thanksgiving, it's a unique holiday that I really love. For me it's about eating and spending time with friends or family. No gifts, just eating!
The receipt for today's Tesco order just came and its total is £55.81. We just came home from a cafe and stopped at M & S on the way home instead of leaving it after my booster shots in case I'm too tired/ill. We spent £9.52 at M & S for celery 50p, a net of garlic 60p, a bulb of high quality garlic 60p, green beans, sliced butternut squash, YS sliced ham, and some turkey gravy.
I'll doctor up the pre-made gravy with herbs and some roasted turkey juices before serving. I deliberately called out the prices of the celery and garlic above because they're so noticeably cheap, cheaper than Tesco and possibly the same price as Aldi but better quality. Just a heads up for folks to not sleep on M & S because they have great prices for some items right now.
£395.05 spent so far. Currently £45.05 over our £350.00 goal.
Hopefully we're totally fine for groceries until the end of November / next Wednesday. At most, maybe another bottle of milk early next Monday.7 -
@thriftwizard I totally forgot to answer about the crumble. I'll make it this week and pay attention/note down measurements. Everything I do is by sight so I need to document it for you. How about I post the recipe on the thread this coming weekend. Deal?

Well our last £15 was spent in lidlll last week with a meal plan for this week ahead. I have since of course lost said meal plan as it was on the same paper as my shopping list but I’m confident of the menu.I think I’ll struggle for milk before the week is through, which is annoying as we will go over then but trying to remember the notion that if you crack your phone screen you don’t Chuck it on the floor and jump all over it and make it worse. As a result, I’ll try and keep any spends to a minimum instead of buying the rest of the shop.Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

Sympathy for your phone screen, @MissRikkiC, my iPad's in the same state! Just waiting to switch to my mother's 2-year-old iPad (mine's 7 or 8) but she can't remember her Apple password, let alone how to use it!
And the weekend would be excellent, thank you, @JingsMyBucket - I also cook by sight/handfuls/dashes/taste, so rough quantities are absolutely fine!
Just realised I'd never added my Friday morning market spend, which was somewhere around £50 - less rather than more - but alas I can't remember exactly how much! I had £70 in notes and came home with £20, but I have no idea how much I had left in coins, though I didn't start with many; OH has been issued with parking money since! So £50 added, though I suspect it was really closer to £45, adding up what I remember buying. One more "weekend" to account for in November, which usually comes in around £20-30 at the supermarket and £60-70 for the rest - need to aim a little below that to stay inside the budget! But that's entirely do-able.Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)8 -

I won't declare yet as I get paid on Friday, but I'm currently at £139.38/£140. I have no plans to go shopping again, so should have made it this month, yey!7

🤣 @thriftwizard you made me chuckle. I think @MissRikkiC was using the phone screen analogy to explain how s was going to view staying near her budget!
