I snip chives with scissors. If the pots aren't thriving you could put a rubber band round the stems to bundle them and cut them off and freeze them. Then just snip short lengths off to season soups, stew and potato dishes and toppings, as and whenSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Good morning All
Got a quick shop to declare from Monday. £22.91 spent in L!dl on frozen lobsters, two pizzas, and three YS pies. We’d spent the weekend in Manchester, got home just in time to watch the second half of the England game and I was feeling totally uninspired re cooking dinner, so went with DH’s choice of pizza. We made the best use of the vouchers on the L!dl Plus app: 20% off lobster (saving £2 on each); 15% off pizza; plus a £5-off voucher “win”.
There is something happening at our local L!dl. Not sure what, though. We got there at 3.30pm and the dairy fridges were totally empty. No cheese. No butter. No yoghurts. No milk. Freezers were full - whereas two weeks ago, they were almost empty - but it looked as if they hadn’t had delivery of dairy products in weeks.
The above spend brings our November total to £82.77/£146.90 leaving £64.13 for the rest of the month.

My chives grow in a medium sized pot in the garden all year round. They die off during the winter and then come back again in the Spring.
Why not plant one pot outside, if you have a garden, and use the other pot now.8 -
Thank you for all of your comments re the chives. I think I will try repotting them as wicked_lady has suggested. I can't believe I ve never used them before when there are so many great uses for them 😊 thank youGrocery Challenge 🍇🍈🍉🍊🍋🍌🍍

Chives will grow on happily if split into several pots; there are usually umpteen individual plants in one pot, which can grow to full size if given a bit more room, and yes, they should pop up again in spring if outdoors, though they'll just keep going right through the winter in a light spot indoors. Same goes for basil & coriander with splitting up, but they'd just die outdoors over winter.Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)7

Second and last big shop yesterday, the first was on the 4th. We didn't buy any alcohol or cleaning stuff as not needed at the mo. Used to buy a bottle of wine every main shop but now we don't, last one we bought was for our anniversary. Started in Aldi and spent £54.33, then Tesco £29.89 inc £2.04 on food bank stuff. Also got four Alpro coconut desserts reduced to 58p from £1.80. On a different way home anticipating rush-hour chaos at a large roundabout where the traffic lights are out and have been for weeks, we nipped into another Lidl we don't use much and spent £16.43 inc £2.98 on two packs of little rum marzipan bars to store for Christmas. They're scrummy and always seem to disappear from the shelves later.
This lot all added up to £100.65 which has taken us well over as we've now spent £212.08. Budget was £180 so an overspend of £32.08 and I suppose it'll go over next month too. I noticed a few more things had gone up since last time and it all adds up. Hope you all have better luck than me sticking to your budgets.6 -
My big shop was delivered today with fruit, veg, cheese and a good restock on the tins, bread flour and heavy stuff like that. It came in at £131.72 but I'd only done small top ups all month so far so lots was needed. That should be it now until the end of the month unless I nip to Aldi for some nice toastable breakfast things like crumpets and bagels for the weekend. I'll see how I feel, I might just stick with bread which I can make at home.
Total now £182.69/£2007 -
Glad you are okay elsiepac, not fun that you are so busy but at least you are okay otherwise which is a relief to us.
£26.69 spent at Mr S today. Had a £3 off £20 coupon that expired today so it should have been £29.69 so that was a help.
Also spent £2 at the mini mart on a pack of scotch bonnets and 2 pointed peppers. It is cheaper to get them there than at Mr S. Saved about £1 doing this which helps a bit.
£201.25/£240.
£38.75 left.
We have an A&C delivery coming next week. I'm ordering the pack of toilet rolls we get but they are in Decembers budget so will add that and half the delivery to December budget to account for that. May seem like a cop out but we are going to be skipping the first December A&C delivery and will need the toilet rolls then so makes sense this way.
Hopeful that we will come in budget.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy6 -
