My thermostat is in the lounge as that's where I spend most of my time, the radiators in the other rooms have TRVs which allows me to set those individual rooms temperatures, the lounge is always the coldest room so it works quite well having it in there.
Moving heating controls around doesn’t solve the underlying problem which might be, at best, an unbalanced heating system or, at worst, an under-sized or partially blocked radiator.
  • i'm constantly resetting mine..... so quick and easy. It always remembers my wifi password so never need to keep putting that in

TRVs will close automatically though, you just set them on the right number and the valve closes when the room gets near temp.

You shouldn't have to manually mess around with them once set.
No, I didn't mean mess with them daily, just once and leave alone.  But I've got the rest of the house seemingly 'balanced' to get other areas working how I want them and am therefore reluctant to start fiddling - especially as I can't see some of the TRVs and might find it hard to get them back where they are now if I want to go back to how it was.  But putting the thermostat in the lounge and getting that right certainly makes everywhere else too warm.  Plus the Hive temperature reading seems 1°C cooler than other thermometers - so I'll need to adjust my thinking to allow for that.

As for the Tapo P110, I'm a smidge disappointed that it doesn't measure in small enough increments.  It shows the immediate draw down to tenths of a watt, but the consumption is seemingly in 100Wh increments.  So it will seemingly have less value for lower energy use items, especially in the short term.  Even my freezer over 14.6 hours (even that seems to be off) is showing as 0.3kWh and has been for the last 90 minutes - so it could be anywhere between 301Wh and 399Wh.

How do you reset it @HumberFlyer - just use the power button on the side?

I’ve just done mine. Switch off at side button then go through set process again. Quicker this time as I knew what to do.

Mine’s now in garage monitoring longer term consumption of chest freezer. I’ll set up the 2nd when I return from my COVID & Flu jabs. Something to look forward to😊

Smashing thanks @badger09 - I'm going to set the other one up for the washing machine later.  I mentioned in another thread that I'm a bit disappointed that it only records usage in 100Wh increments, which reduces its usefulness for lower drain items and shorter time spans.   I've got mine on the freezer now and it's at 0.3kWh over 16.5 hours, but it's had the same consumption for 3 hours - but I've not seen it above 0.7w current since then either.  I bet when I open the door shortly it will shoot up.  The biggest spike was when I unplugged it to set up the Tapo last night.   I thought of your husband earlier when I filled the kettle!   :D

Good luck with your jabs, I'm booked in for a couple of weeks time - I'll need to allow myself a couple of days 'off' then, they make me rough.

The 110 is energy monitoring.  You can see what energy the device is using that is plugged into it. The 110 is just a smart plug with no energy monitoring functionality.

I think @dunstonh made a typo - the P100 is a smart plug, the P110 is the same, but with additional energy monitoring.

Loads pf places list the P110 cheaper than Amazon, for example £9.99 from BT
(Although if you order two it comes to £19.99 not £19.98)
