The only transaction in using Santander (or A&L) as my main bank account for 20 ish years that has been stopped was the transfer for about £7k to buy a car after I had done a test with £10 just before.refluxer said:
Yes, that's my plan when trying to withdraw too - hopefully just dealing with the one payee (which I've already sent a small payment to) will minimise the risk of triggering Santander's legendarily over-sensitive anti-fraud measures.jaypers said:
Did you try to transfer direct from the savings account or did you transfer the funds to your current account first?TomDolan said:tried to withdraw 7k, guess what, dreaded message : your access is blocked please phone support...Already had this last week and went into a branch with ID, all was good until today..can't be bothered with this now, will close the account...1 -
What's santanders maximum daily withdrawal limit? I'll be funding a one year fixed bond soon. So I could do without any hassle.0

they don't, in my experience.Swipe said:If you are withdrawing to an existing payee they have zero reason to be blocking withdrawals.
Unless it's a larger withdrawal, immediately following a small withdrawal. This will send alarm bells off.1 -
Cash: £5k cash in Branch without prior notification. Higher if you advise a working day ahead.jimexbox said:What's santanders maximum daily withdrawal limit? I'll be funding a one year fixed bond soon. So I could do without any hassle.
.
Electronic payments:£25k online/app, £100k phone or Branch. Higher amounts via CHAPS, which I think costs £253 -
That's just ridiculous and still no reason to block it. I always test with a small amount first if I haven't used the existing payee in quite a while just for peace of mind.Band7 said:

So do fraudsters. It's very common to see small 'test' transactions before the perp attempts a bigger, riskier move.

Seems you haven't read what I wrote. I have now highlighted it for you.Swipe said:

Anecdotally this does seem to be a particular trigger for Santander judging by previous posts over the yearsSwipe said:

What didn't i read? I always do a small test and then immediately followed by a large one once I've confirmed it arrived and never had any issues with other banks.Band7 said:
