Parcel post boxes are only for paid for mail with a barcodeMoney_Grabber13579 said:
Oh dear! Sounds like you’ve had quite the day of it!elsien said:I have not covered myself in glory today.
Posted one bundle into a letterbox without taking the wrapper off first.
Then took the bag into the post office and the customer in front of me was completing some paperwork so the chap yelled over their head “do you want to leave that here?”
He then informed me that last post had already gone and was it time sensitive? And I just thought I’m not taking this anywhere else, so I replied “I’ve just been asked to drop it off here and that’s what I’m doing.” Then he asked me about the manifest and did I need it back, and I had to say “no idea.”
Then the app asked me about last posting time, which was wrong. But if you say wrong or not sure they ask you for a photo and you can’t continue without one. MHave you ever tried taking a surreptitious photo in those circumstances - wasn’t going to happen so I ended up having to say it was correct just to submit that I’d sent it.
Next time it’s the parcel box even if I have to use something to shove the blockage down with.
On the parcel post boxes, I’ve found that if you return a couple of books to them at the same time and put that on top of the polystyrene parcels, that is usually weighty enough to force the whole lot into the parcel box. Much better look than having people staring at you whilst your arm is half way inside the parcel box!

No, you can put stamped parcels into them as well and no reason why freepost parcels can’t be put in them as well. They are essentially just bigger post boxes which take parcels rather than letters (and freepost letters go in a post box).HonestJohn said:

They are not just bigger post boxes. There are restrictions on their use. All items must be prepaid for a start.Money_Grabber13579 said:

Freepost parcels are pre-paid, they are just paid for by the recipient rather than the sender.HonestJohn said:

If they were prepaid they would have a barcode label. These are charged after receipt.Money_Grabber13579 said:

But stamped parcels don’t have a bar code and they go in parcel post boxes. At least, when it was Kantar, that’s where they told me to post them (their instructions were that stamped parcels could be posted in a post office or in a parcel post box and specifically labelled parcels for parcel post boxes could only be posted in a parcel post box). Looking at the Royal Mail website, it says not to put tracked parcels in a parcel post box but that seems to be more to do with tracking?HonestJohn said:

To be honest I expect they will all get delivered eventually. Just might be a delay.Money_Grabber13579 said:

Royal Mail website says that standard postboxes must be “prepaid” as well so logically they are just bigger postboxesHonestJohn said:

You can post your pre-paid** mail in a postbox if it fits and you don't need proof of postage.
Parcel Postboxes
You can post your pre-paid** large letters and parcels here if it fits and you don't need proof of posting- Items must weight 2kg or less
- Maximum dimensions: length 44cm, width 35cm, depth 16cm.
**Special Delivery, International tracked, Tracked Returns without a barcode on the label and Mail Order Returns items without a barcode on the label must be posted in a Post Office branch.3 -
Surely that information about boxes and not putting certain items in is due to tracking and proof of postage looking at the list of items not to put in. Or rather, you can post them but you won't have tracking or the ability to make a claim if it goes missing.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

I've got an outstanding ticket as I had the identical situation. I got past that stage by taking a photo of the outside of the Post Office. I have asked them to clarify.elsien said:..............
