wondering if any tips from anyone on keeping a child quiet 😂 my son has special needs and I’m really struggling with this as my hubby now works from home on a customer care line 😱9

CCL.. Same.. My husband works from home for a phone company, started in January.. and has a bunch of VERY loud SEN people living here.. it just works eventually.. and wearing the headset means the customers are unlikely to be able to hear anything. I have vacuumed outside the door and th customers couldn't hear. Trying to keep them quiet makes them louder.. school holidays required a lot of banishing to the garden, ice pops and screen time.. it was so much worse when my grandson was here over the summer the volume increased 100fold.

Evening all.
CCL, could you somehow soundproof and childproof the room in which your husband works? I'm thinking of inexpensive things like making it possible to lock the door from the inside (just fix a simple bolt top and bottom) when he's 'on duty' to stop anyone walking in on him, and hanging a heavy curtain over the inside of the door. And if your son's bedroom/playroom is above your husband's workplace, is the upstairs floor carpeted so that that the sound of toys crashing is muffled?
DH and I went out shopping for various oddments this morning - the first time for years that DH has been able to walk faster than me and carry a full shopping bag for me! Mind you, traipsing up and down the aisles of the bigger shops, looking for a small dish for soaking water transfers to decorate the shields of his wargames model soldiers must have doubled the original distance we walked. We were both absolutely shattered by the time we got home. I had bought some more bulbs and bedding plants, but of course I was then too tired to plant them.:
Other than that, I have cut DH's hair, done a quick tidy round, S&S'd the kitchen and bathroom, made my bed, cooked meals, sent and received multiple emails, and decluttered a waste paper binful of out of date and unwanted papers from the top drawer of my filing cabinet. I also rang my gynae consultant's secretary to ask about rearranging my regular 6-monthly appointment which I should have attended in February, but it was cancelled by the horse piddle at the the last minute because no Dr was available (and they told me I should wait for another appointment letter) - today I received an abject apology and the offer of an appointment next Tuesday. DH has also been given an appointment by the GP surgery to have his long awaited DVLA medical, so things are beginning to move in the right direction at long last.
I'm off for an early night so that I can start making inroads into my list early tomorrow morning. xx

Mine doesn't do emails.. on the phones 12-8 monday to friday... if it isn't children being loud he usually has a cat in the room walking on the laptop and yowling in his headset. Customers have heard them!

Re the noise…my work place offers low cost co-work space with internet access. Maybe you could investigate if there’s something like that near you? Even if it was used just one day a week it might reduce the tension/stress. And it would be tax deductible I believe.

I think part of the issue is cos it’s so quiet my sons squeals sound even louder so maybe I’ll put some music on low and try to spend some time in my eldest sons room as that’s furthest away from the ‘work’ room or just get the dog to bark constantly to drown out all the other noise 🤷♀️9
