Shawbrook 1 Year 4.0% out today.Pompeydave1967 said:I think it was too good a rate to turn down @ 4.1% , no doubt another deal will come along soon. Hoping Atom up their rates again , also with Shawbrook who have fallen way behind on fixed rates.Nose ointment I know, but does this mean you have max out NBS?

I don’t understand why you open up another account will someone else at a lesser rate.
What’s your tactic?

For the next 2 months all the bank are trying to get cheap money.
A month or so back union bank of India I think it was offered 3.2% for 1 year fixed.
People said it was a mistake, was it.
They got lots of cash for almost 1% less than today.
A shrewd investment for them.
If you fix before late December I think you are mad.
5% plus should be on the table as a minimum.3 -
I’m semi retired and love the banking thing , it keeps me sane lol. My parents were in banking and it’s been passed down. Advice given years ago not to put all your eggs in one basket so I have 10+ going .Thumbs_Up said:Pompeydave1967 said:

"I don’t understand why you open up another account will someone else at a lesser rate"Not being rude, but the idea with the ladder trick you step up, not down.

All my a/c’s are on a ‘up’ ladder , just thought I would grab a couple of similar rates. Also I was already with one bank so seconds to open up.
But I’m always on the lookout for the next increase.0
