Evening turtles, thanks for all the advice, I think I'll gather a little emergency stash but hopefully won't go full on prepper, American-style
@Thrifty_Taylor glad your DH is home, wishing him a speedy recovery! @Dfw38 good luck with your marathon training, you've got this!
Early start today as I had a 9am home visit at work, rushed there to make it on time only to find there was no answer! Typical... busy and very stressful day at work, but it absolutely flew by I have to say. I must hold my hands up and admit I spent £2.80 on a coffee from a little coffee shop I found (much nicer than the chain ones) because where I was working today had no drink-making facilities, not even a tap! So I couldn't bring my milk and coffee with me. Good old court buildings lol.
Went to boxing class this evening, it was very much needed after work. I realised how easy it would've been to think, sod it I'll buy some wine and then sit at home stewing, but it really did me good to go and get some of that frustration out on some boxing pads! I must admit I thought of a particular colleague while doing some punchingit was almost therapeutic!
Have had a quick bath and just finished my dinner, now I'm ready for bed!9 -
Toni'sfriend - I know that some of your libraries have areas where they sell used book to raise funds for the library. Maybe a nearby library might like to sell them for charity or use them in their own library collection. CDs are very popular in our book sales here.9

Evening Turtles, hope you’re all ok.
Outside - Walked to work through park/field. My boss is looking into getting me a parking permit so I can park nearer to work.
Inside - I am not the maid and have not picked up after everyone, it’s making me twitch though but no-one else cares or has even noticed not sure I can wait it out! Also did the never ending laundry. Tried to buy a heated airer in aldee but none left.
Fun - Does over budget grocery shopping count 😑? I also seem to be swearing a lot more than usual that’s quite fun!!
Food / alcohol - Really bad food choices today (chocolate for breakfast & lunch and oven chips for tea) no wonder I feel shattered! No alcohol.
Read - nothing here
Plan for December - No, still not really active with this. Money is there just need to know what to gift people, still no confirmed plans for the main day.
NSD - no as bought postage online, groceries, fuel and paid the bt fee for bt transfer to 0%. Still 13/15
MSE - Switched cc balance so all on 0% until my DFD. Claimed tcb & zapped receipts. Had my £65 from energy company & moved that to another pot to give them back next month! Stupid system imo.
Gratitude - Things could be worse!!

BadBookkeeper some days only chocolate will do.
I've had quite a good day. I took 3 bags of books to Oxfam. I stayed out for over an hour and I'm really enjoying these longer walks - even though there are as many sit downs as walking bits. Bought 3 books in Oxfam, lots of interest but only allowing myself things I love - if I wake up in the middle of the night thinking about them, I'll go back. I've checked with one of the larger cs and they do have room for 'C' trees so that's something else from mum's to go.
There was a man walking around with a parrot on his shoulder, one of the large red, blue and green ones. He had a dog as well but the parrot was stealing all the attention. Came back and continued to do battle with 'under the stairs'. Found a set of fairy lights but not the bit that they attach to to plug into the socket so pushed myself a bit to get as much done as i could before the light went - it was already dark under the stairs, was feeling around working out what the dark shapes were. Their gadgets have all been shuffled to the near end of the cube shelves (in clear sight), all the paint went on top of the WM so I could use daylight to see what there was. The tools and diy bits are under the kitchen table (too dark to do anything with them and didn't want to fall over them. The floor under the stairs is clear and most of the cubes are now empty (3 on the top row have food, two on the bottom row have small tarpaulins rolled and folded up inside them). Seven empty cubes and space on the shelves and top of the spare kitchen unit under there.
Grateful for meeting a parrot and the meeting I had with a small boy in the library yesterday, getting things done, finding ways to reuse old stuff (3 unopened tester pots are being put into a 'doll's house box', several items have been identified that can go on a 'busy board' and some things are going in a 'useful box' for DS3 and Beloved).10 -
Thanks for all your good wishes 🥰
I hope DS gets help soon @f0xh0les.
Great work @grandmanerd!
Did yoga, then took DH for his blood test at the hospital. He wanted to look in a couple of shops afterwards, so was 10.30 by the time we returned home & I could get my breakfast!
Did 2 lots of sewing jobs, then this afternoon we walked a mile each way to the village. DH managed it easily. He'll have to go to Aberdeen at some point to get his stent removed, & lots of check ups over the next few weeks, so good job I'm hope to chauffeur him about! Made DS1 an early tea, had a 20 min nap, then cooked everyone else's tea. Washed up afterwards, made more cards for embroidery threads to be round on to, then had a soak in the bath with my book.
Grateful for crunchy leaves to walk through, a beautiful afternoon, DH doing well, recharging my batteriesUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

@Dfw38, @lcc and any other turtles thinking about prepping, here's something from my German friend to put a spin on it if it all gets too much!
"My prepping supplies are ready for any emergency"!
@grandmanerd - you sound like a new woman after what you've achieved today. And you're right, some days only chocolate (and tea) will do.
Gratitudes: watching the squirrels stashing nuts, a lovely riverside walk, feeding the cygnets some swan food, DOH driving 6 miles to fetch a secondhand dolls house for my niece after she cheekily rang him up to ask him because I was at work and couldn't. Mind you, she's got a bargain and I would have loved it as a kid!

Good morning, little disappointed as I thought today is payday but the bank holiday on Monday is only in ROI. Paid some money from random little savings pots onto CC. So I can still spend nessecities but DH definitely can't borrow anything.
I don't have a student anymore so I have my proper luch breaks back and will start going to the gym again today.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/2511 -
Morning all,
@Thrifty_Taylor great news about OH being home!
Absent yesterday as had a little overnight break with OH. Left the teenagers at home with their friends and there were no parties or drama, so that was relief.
Update for last couple of days and plans for today;
Outside Loads of lovely walks with OH and pooch, did me the world of good. I'm on pooch walking duty this morning but its lashing it down. I hate the rain!
Inside Deep cleaned the bathroom
Fun Lovely break away with oh
Food/Drink AF 15/31. Did drink the last 2 nights and food has been horrendous but I have done a bit of a 'pre big shop, shop' and OH made a veg stew and broccoli and stilton soup with the haul so we can get as much veg in all of us as possible over the next few days. Also have a breakfast smoothie prepped and ready to drink with no less than six frozen fruit/veg in it.
Read No, just loads of lying around!
Plan 4 Dec Nothing.
Gratitudes Grateful for an overnight break with OH and pooch, pooch sleeping on my legs as I type and keeping them warm (still no heating on here given how mild its been!), listening to the rain on the roof.
Yoga/Meditation Both done this morning.
Spending 7/10 NSDs still as had a spend few days. Out for a cheap curry tonight too so aiming for Sat, Sun, to be NSDs (supposed to be meeting a friend on Monday which will involve at least a coffee) which will take us just over Septembers total but still short of 10/10.
Have a good day all.

Just a quick question: do other turtles include household items (washing powder, toilet rolls) in with the cost of food items or keep them separate, please? Just want to get this straight before starting Nifty November!7
