NST OCTOBER 2022: Autumn Leaves and Sloe Berries

Evening turtles
Got my expense claim through today, I think I'd spent just over £5 on parking on my credit card but couldn't remember the exact amount, so I just paid off £10 to cover it and sent the remaining £50 to my car fund ready for MOT and service in January.
Had a busy morning at work, but on the plus side I got my steps in running around a massive court building pretending to be important! Calmed down in the afternoon so I could catch up with the work I needed to do.
Have seen my payslip as I get paid on Monday so I sorted next month's budget. This is the only month where I'll get one wage as only just started my second part-time job, and also haven't yet been able to claim my overtime for my new job as that's always in arrears, but I'm happy I can still save what I planned to save and things aren't too tight.
Came home before rush hour and did a bit more work, then did a work out before bath and dinner. I have a couple of hour's work tomorrow at my part-time job so a nice early night is in order.10 -
Today I am grateful for dc being a bit perkier, for my liddle shop, for DH going away overnight tomorrow to visit an old friend as he never does that sort of thing, for my pink hair, for the fairy lights downstairs, for dc talking to me about any and everything.

FridayFinally had the headspace to read MSE bank switch info and today I’ve switched from NW to Lyds. Hopefully £150 and 6 free cinema tickets will be with me by the end of this month. The card also offers cashback on Saneberry spends… could be quite beneficial to us since that’s who we buy weekly groceries from.
Also employer finally paid work travel expenses… happy to have it back in my pocket.Listed a couple of DS’s outgrown clothes on selling site Vinted… first time trying it out so will see how it goes. Bike listing hasn’t had any further interest so I’ve lowered by £5.I’ve just placed tomorrow’s Saneberries order and had gathered enough nectar points to get £2.50 off shop. Saneberries also do a price guarantee so I got £1.50 refunded for an item that was overpriced.Picked up Mum and her friend from the bus station - seems they had a great time in London… will get a proper catch up with Mum another day. She was exhausted after the trip and the 9-hour bus journey home.Staying on NSD 7 as I bought milk and mini marshmallows.Grateful today for free £150 and cinema tickets, for a lie-in this morning, for the Martin Lewis money show (which OH and I watched on catch up today), and actually for the man himself Martin Lewis.MARTIN, IF YOU’RE READING THIS… THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!

Here, here! Martin is fantastic 🥇
Good luck with you plans @hazeldreams, sounds like you're on the right path 😊
Thanks again for all your support. DH's op was a success, all 6hrs of it. He was able to message me half an hour after coming round from the anaesthetic! Spoke to him a couple of times, & he's messaged lots. Told me he's even been sitting in a chair to eat his meals! He'll be running laps round the hospital by the end of next week,at this rate!!
Had a very hectic day, dropping things off, picking things up, etc. Met a lady for lunch, to give her some wool I'd promised, in exchange for one of her minute hand stitched bears, it's beautiful! Fully moving joints & everything. She also bought me lunch. Has to run back to the car mid eating, as my free hour's ticket had run out, so put another one on, & returned to finish my food 🤣 got our shopping & mum's (still testing +), had my hair cut, got chips for DS3's tea, quickly put shopping away & had a quick bite to eat, then off to the cinema. My friend treated me, so even better. It was the one where a London cleaner goes to France to buy a designer dress.
Grateful for DH doing so well, laughs with friends, being treated to the cinema, & have just opened my favourite salt & vinegar shapes 😋Use it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Pleased to hear it’s going well for your OH @Thrifty_Taylor. xToday (Saturday) is grocery delivery day so staying on NSD 7.I’ve done my account sweeps a day early again this week. It gets leftover cash out of sight and mind. I need to do this in particular this month because next week we have tickets for a few organised Halloween events and I know there will be some extra spending: eats, treats, drinks, rides...Saturday Sweep going to seasonal festivities:Food £13Transport 44Leisure 0 (money is going in here just now)Not anticipating any other spends between today and tomorrow: our fridge is full, we’ve got enough fuel in the car, we’ve no plans other than going to OH’s parents and the football.Grateful this morning for a bit of banter with the Saneberries delivery driver and his apprentice, for having underspends for sweeps, and for tea in bed.NST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸9

Congratulations Thrifty, and Mr Thrifty too! That is so exciting (and terrifying). Really happy for you all.Hazel, there are some things we can control and others we can't. You have to accept that or go mad - it is a marathon, not a sprint.Had lots of fun at my day of work, the venue was a total nightmare to find. Roadworks, nobody knew where it was, nobody called it by its name, given wrong postcode, g00gley maps was a work of fiction, and it was piddling down - in that way only Greater Manchester can do. I was soaked through to my pants, but as it was a council building, the thermostats were set at 24 degrees, and I was dry within the hour. I then ran around turning off heaters and resetting every thermostat I could find to 16 degrees.A C0sta-lot coffee was consumed because I was half an hour early to the venue, it was only across the car park, I had my own mug, and I was miserable (and left a wet bum imprint on their sofa). Still annoyed at £3.80 for a medium coffee in my own cup! Also ate my first mice pie (ho flippin ho!) Glad I don't do that often but now I have 2 free drinks on my app as I referred a friend so she could get a free drink on Friday and it gave me 5 extra beans. So 2 free coffees for when I am working next week then!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
