@Thrifty_Taylor glad your DH is doing well, tell him to make sure he rests up!
Funny old day today, worked for a couple of hours at my part-time job, it was really nice, we went to adventure golf, it's such a contrast to my main job but in a good way. I had a headache when I left which got worse by the time I got home. Had lunch and some aspirin, started batch cooking some lunches for both me and OH but had to go and lie down halfway through. Sometimes I get really bad headaches/migraines that start when I'm hungry, but haven't had one for ages.
Fell asleep for about three hours(!), woke up feeling much better but took a migraine tablet just in case. Made dinner and finished the lunches at the same time. That pretty much brings me up until now! Have done hardly anything from the to do list but sometimes these things have to take a back seat.9 -
Congrats to Mr Thrifty, hope his recovery is swift and he can come home soon. Good news here too, our Canadian visitor has been granted a British passport (her mum was born here) so she can start applying for jobs once her National Insurance number turns up, she is very excited! That also means that her and DS1 will move out in the not too distant future and I can have a rest!
Went for a long walk along the seafront today, was lovely and warm so we had an ice cream. Also sat in the garden earlier with a cup of tea and got some washing dry on the line. Still haven’t had the heating on since April apart from half an hour last month to check everything was ok and the rads all worked.
Loving all the political turmoil at the moment, you never know what will happen next. As long as whoever takes over gets the interest rates down before our fix runs out next June, I don’t really care who it is.
Today I am grateful for the mild weather, being fit enough to go on long walks at my age and the prospect of new beginnings.

That's fantastic news about your DH, @Thrifty_Taylor! So happy for you both!
@f0xh0les - I can't stand getting soaked either, it's so miserable! Good old council drying you out, lol.
Took mum to an old market town 25 miles away as we usually go in the lead up to sproutday. Sadly a lot of shops had shut down or moved to the retail park since we last went but we still enjoyed ourselves.
I managed the 'pay on exit' car park a bit better without causing a queue and random men using the F word at me due to my lack of experience, so that's a bonus! I even managed to explain to another family how it works.
Had delicious fish and chips so that we didn't have to cook tonight. Bought some pre-loved Sproutday decorations from a charity stall and mum got some wallflowers and mixed mini narcissi bulbs off the market.
Just tried to mend a small rainbow mirror ball with some glue and because it has a polystyrene base ... it's melted! Drat. Guess that's a job for tomorrow. Hundreds of mirror tiles to restick on a new ball (but with different glue)!
Gratitudes: A nice day out with mum, lovely lunch, warm sunshine.

Today I am grateful for DH taking himself off to visit an old college friend, for getting items partly sewn up and stuffed, for finding a fab pair of boots for dc in a ch shop (they'll be good for cmas), for a quick video call with big sis and mum, for caramelised red onion chutney!

Thank you all! DH has had a shower this morning, & because he is doing so well, he has been moved to a different ward within the high dependency bit. I suggested a facetime call, so the DS's could see him, but he says he's in a lot of pain & to leave it til another day.
@BadBookkeeper the film was really good, some laughs & an oh no! moment. Just what I needed 😊
NSD#6?
A friend came over this morning & we took her dog for a 4.5 mile walk. Stood chatting on our driveway for an hour after, so felt quite cold when I came in. Ate a tin of soup, then washed the dishes, so soon warmed up. Put on dough for home made pizzas for tea, chopped a few sticks & lit a fire, then did the ironing. Advertised the bundle of clothes I'd just ironed, & they sold in under 5 mins! So that's everything sold apart from one too, that we took out of the garage on Tuesday 😃 Made the pizzas, then sat winding embroidery thread on to cards to go in a thread organiser. Haven't got many done as was sorting colours, but have a whole bag to work through, so will keep me busy!
Happy half term for those that have broken up now, our schools are due to go back on Monday. Hope the sun shines for you tomorrow @f0xh0les & glad you were able to set out today.
Grateful for a nice walk, DH doing better each day, a cosy fire, craft stash gathering from years agoUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Evening turtles sounds like a busy day! Here’s my update:
Outside - Fab afternoon exploring a castle. DS is doing a project in school about Welsh castles. Been to this one many times but so much more interesting going today now we’ve learnt a few things about it.
Inside - went to order bedroom carpets this morning but the one we chose ages ago is no longer available. Although it was July 2020 when we originally picked it but all got halted because of covid and we have only just got around to it again so back to the painful process of picking. I want cheap as it’s covered so much by bed and furniture.
Fun - Exploring castles.
Food / alcohol - Not great but very enjoyable! Yes had wine tonight.
Read - No
Plan for December - Few discussions about main day. Seems we have loose plans.
NSD - No so still 11/15. Treated us to drinks & snacks.
MSE - Used membership card for free entry to nt castle, zapped receipts for spends.
Gratitude - Living in north wales, trying and thinking about improving our home, a lovely lie in this morning and a nice sunny day.
Lightbulb moment - 17/08/2017 £17,033. Current CC debt £0.00 DFD 31/7/24 🥳. Member #8 of Fiver Friday Challenge £175/£2608 -
Wonderful to hear OH doing so well @Thrifty_Taylor, fingers crossed he'll be up to that FaceTime soon.
Today's focus is what I can do. I've a tendency to focus on the negative, so I'm going to be challenging myself on this today.
Update for yesterday and plans for today;
Outside Did a huge 1.5 hour walk with pooch. He was loving life and so was I. Felt much better afterwards. Hoping to get out again today, but I don't do rain and it is literally throwing it down outside right now.
Inside Nope
Fun Took my Dad out for lunch to give my mom a break (he has dementia) and we had a lovely meal. He still makes me laugh so much and his stories are just brilliant. So grateful that he hasn't lost his sense of humour.
Food/Drink AF 14/31. Had some wine last night.
Read No.
Plan 4 Dec Nothing.
Gratitudes Wonderful day out with Dad, DD1 coming home in one piece after her second ever party with friends (she's 17), DD2 spending time with me reading her beautifully written short stories (she'll be a famous author one day, I'm sure). Just 2 working days left before I take a much needed little break.
Yoga/Meditation Still no.
Spending Still on 6/10 as spent while out with Dad.

Weather Report for LeShire - Piddling down really hard!,Going for my induction at new work today. Keep your flippers crossed for me.Turned down other (much better paid, longer hours) job offer as they have announced a further 19 days of strikes. and I agree with them, and would not be happy to cross their picket line. Still, turning down a job feels so odd, at least someone else will benefit from a job offer now, who needs the money more than I do, that is the only silver lining. First time I have been able to afford to have principles. Then turned down a swap request for work next month from the new colleague, she should not have asked for the job, because it was obvious she was not going to be able to do it unless someone moved C'mas to February. She can jolly well 'fess up, as she will keep doing it if she gets away with it this time.I fear she might become a bit of a liability, but at least I found out quickly. She is lovely, just totally flaky.
