NST OCTOBER 2022: Autumn Leaves and Sloe Berries

Well done, f0xh0les.
Shrewbie - I am so jealous. I love the market in Munich. It's really beautiful at night when all the stalls are lit up and sparkling. Have you been to Munich before?
Another one here who has succumbed to the side effects of the COVID/flu jabs. Normally I have little more than a bit of a sore arm but this time it absolutely floored me. Aching all over, headache, temperature, shivers, etc, etc. I spent yesterday in bed trying to sleep. And today it's all gone. Not even a sore arm.
But now I am totally at sixes and sevens. Got paid yesterday so I have to do the budget for the next four weeks and I have to make a list (yes, another one) to figure out where I am and what I need to do. Pouring down so I'm not going out. Luckily I made minestrone soup on Thursday night so we can have that for lunch and I've got a chilli and some pitta bread out of the small freezer (which is still working) for dinner. Going to have to abandon counting my NSDs as I've lost count.
Hope everyone is well and has a good weekend.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.9 -

Was looking at hot water bottles today as i find electric blankets burn my legs. Very tempted to buy one of the long ones but wondered if they're any good. Any turtles got one and like/hate it?Lightbulb moment - 17/08/2017 £17,033. Current CC debt £0.00 DFD 31/7/24 🥳. Member #8 of Fiver Friday Challenge £175/£2608 -
@BadBookkeeper - you could ring them, explain you are in credit, and if they are raising your dd to better reflect the price increase, you would like all your credit refunded to your account and you look forward to the new monthly payment, thank you very much. Better in your bank account than theirs!! then bung it in a 5% interest account until they contact you again. Twits!@Dfw38 It is not ONLY £6! If you put on a coat that you had not worn in a while, and found £6 in the pocket, would you not be really happy about it? You bought the clothes, you wore the clothes, you no longer need the clothes, and now they are repaying you. Celebrate! and yes, it is £6 you will not pay interest on ever again.@firsview make sure they ALL claim their working from home tax rebate (and give it to you) - it won't cover the extra, but it will help.@grandmanerd we still have the Warrington fruit loaf down here in LeShire, it is DH's kryptonite .. but Herr L's suddenly for the last 3 weeks has none of my ground coffee, they have not had soya milk for 4 months now, and frankly it is bizarre what things are disappearing off the shelves, and the stock answer is 'supply chain issues'.Hot X Bun(nies) are officially no longer a seasonal food, unlike Tw1glets which are disgusting all year round, but hard to find. Up with healthier than expected bank balances!! Down with leaky roofs needing attention, and Liz Truss (just cos). You might just have to accept that a taxi is the way to go sometimes, do not beat yourself up about it.@Toni'sfriend - you sound quite organized to me, despite being unwell yesterday, you plan to write a list, and you know what you are eating today. Wait until after the list before deciding you are all at sea..Today is DS1's 20th birthday, so today will involve making some kind of attempt at a lemon cheesecake, it might turn into a 'yellow ooze cake' who knows! I am not a caterer. The presents are wrapped, lunch will probably be 'out' in celebration, depending on what time he gets up. Lots of work admin done, and post survey items prepped.Happy Saturday Turtles, the promised rain turned up last night, and not this morning, which is fab, and at 8.40 last night, I drove down to the train station to buy work train tickets rather than paying an extra £1.99 for ordering online, and then £1 to pick up at station or £2.50 to send them to me. I don't think so!! Funny which little extra charges niggle, isn't it?Half way through the month, have a look at your bank statements, have a look at your budgets, know where you are.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I know where I am, f0xh0les! I'm in Penzance 😎. We've been to Mousehole and hope to go to Mount St Michael Tomorrow. Dc is living it up in St Ives.

Afternoon all,
Just got through everyone's posts and realised the 'lurgy' I've woken up with this morning, is quite likely to be as a result of the flu jab I had on Wednesday! I feel rotten! Consequently, I've done nothing today, absolutely nada. I've literally just slept and slept and slept in a vain attempt to get rid of the head cold/flu like headache and the aches and pains.
In terms of yesterday though - here's where I got to;
Outside I didn't make the walk with the pooch yesterday, I've no idea why - I could've made the time.
Inside Cleared the urgent stuff off my to do list
Fun Sound bath was lovely, made even more so by DD2 joining me and enjoying it (I really thought she'd hate it!)
Food/Drink I ate a really healthy bean chilli on a jacket potato. Been great with drinking water so far today.
Read Struggling with this again
Plan 4 Dec Nothing doing here still
Gratitudes OH doing everything I'd normally do today because I feel so rotten. Not having to work while feeling like this! Being under on grocery budget still with just 2 shops to go.
Yoga/Meditation Meditation and sound bath yesterday - was really lovely.
Spending NSD 2/10. Finally! Now off to check the rules on NSDs.
Happy Saturday!

Today I am grateful for scenic places to visit, for mild, breezy and sunny weather, for a good mooch around the charity shops, for dc doing okay, for my knitting, for my legs carrying me hither and thither.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!8

@Esmeralda2662 I was given a long hot water bottle a couple of years ago for Christmas, it's actually really good for wrapping around your back, I have arthritis and love it when I'm all achey. You can also chuck it over a shoulder and walk around with it, and it's great for warming up beds. Mine doesn't take much more than a regular hot water bottle to fill.
Today I got up and put the slow cooker on to make a veggie sausage casserole. Then I went up to London to the Household Cavalry museum, I'd booked it a while back. Saw the changing of the guard and did a few other touristy bits. Budgeted for a wee lunch as part of the day. My back for some reason didn't enjoy the walking even though it wasn't much at all and it's flared up really badly.
When I got home I actually fell asleep for an hour. Got up and did a meat-sausage casserole for OH and also cooked a bunch of lunches as well. Had lots of breaks as my back was sore but just wanted to get everything done today. Almost finished with all the cooking now, I ran out of sweet potatoes so have one recipe left to make but that will have to wait until tomorrow, and then all my batch cooking will be done.8 -
@apple_muncher do you know about the SeaSalt Sale Shop in Penryn (postcode TR10 9EW ). If you were heading near/around/past that way it is supposed to be well worth a look.

Thanks f0xh0les, but it's 21 miles away so I don't think we'll be walking there tomorrow! We're off to St Ives on the train in the morning and walking to Marazion and across the causeway to Mount St Michael in the afternoon. I made 31000 steps today!

Here’s todays update from me:
Outside - Not left the house today. Tried to get ds to arrange to meet his mates at the park this morning but then it rained and didn’t really stop all day. So didn’t go out.
Inside - Cleaned the whole house. I really want this to become a weekday evening job as I hate spending my weekend doing it. I start with great intentions but no extras ever seem to get done. I do like the whole house being clean at the same time so a bit each day wouldn’t work for me.
Fun - My sister, bil & niece visited today. That was nice.
Food / alcohol - naughty on both
Read - No not today
Plan for December - My sister asked we were thinking of doing on THE day. Said we didn’t know we usually spend part of it with them & our parents so we’ll see what happens next.
NSD - Yes! Now 8/15
MSE - Not today.
Gratitude - not having to go anywhere.
