I've not received an email from GEUK, but that doesn't surprise me from a company that doesn't reply to emails and hasn't managed to send a single bill for the two months I've been with them, and also hasn't sent the changeover reading to my previous supplier.
I'll stay with them for ever if they don't want any money from me.
  • Interesting new post regarding Good Energy on another thread - a supplier in a similar cap-exempt position - where the posted rates are way above EPG.
The Good Energy tariff quoted on that thread is their Standard Variable Tariff.

People on here with GEUK are on a fixed tariff and GEUK have already stated that they will be applying the EPG. (https://www.greenenergyuk.com/energy_price_guarantee)

There is no need to panic.

Floor price:  the lowest price at which a product can be sold

Price Ceiling:  an upper limit set by a government on the price that can be charged for a product or service

The dictionary is right, GEUK is using the wrong word.
GEUK have pretty much just copied & pasted from the government's release. Blame the government for the wording.

    Great, that's reassuring!
To be fair, I think the reasoning is that it's calculated in a backwards way - they start with the capped price as it should have been before subsidy, then discount it by a fixed amount that reduces it to the new price.  But if your previous price was lower than the new capped price that never happened then it will not be discounted below the new price.
So it's a floor that's applied during the calculations, but the end result is actually a ceiling price to customers.

I'm not panicking. But I am certainly concerned that my energy supplier cannot yet tell me what my prices will be in 3 days time.

What are you planning to do if they don't tell you?

I'm planning to call them on Friday if I don't hear from them by then.
It's not too much to ask for them to tell their customers what their prices are before they start charging them is it?

  • The one thing I am doing is ensuring I supply a meter reading on 1st October.  Then if/when they (or their future receivers) actually manage to produce a bill then I will only pay the new price for the consumption beyond 1st October.  I'm taking a screenshot of their website as evidence.

I've not seen any sign of anyone panicking...
