Are we talking about your monthly DD payment? If you add the £67 (Government support) to the amount claimed, it comes close to your old monthly DD amount. The full amount will be credited to your account.0

"before we can charge for gas we have to wait on something called the "calorific value." This helps us work out your gas usage in kWh. Your statement should be with you shortly but in the meantime you can see your provisional charges via your app/online dashboard"

Are you a new customer with no previous use history with another provider? If so they are merely guessing at what amount of energy you might be using so will need to simply make up numbers. They will overestimate your use for the year, add a couple of extra months and then divide by 10 or 12 or something and then call that what your DD should be each month.
If you don't need to have the exact same payment each month (budgeting to spread the costs over the full year) you can ask that you have DDs based on your actual use each month. So high in the winter, low in the summer.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. What they are saying is “based on your gas meter reading, we think this is how much your bill will be”, but they’re missing one of the numbers that turns it from meter units into kWh on the bill.
Its not “extra money”, it’s to pay for gas you have used. They are not trying to take anything out of your bank except the normal DD.
I don’t think “people need to stand up to these companies” that are charging you for what you have actually used.
What were your gas meter readings at the last bill and at the time of this provisional charge?3 -
If this is a gas calorific value adjustment I wonder if lots of people will get the same.
Is it because we have more LPG being added into the mix?0 -
