I’ve informed the old agent I used to rent through and they said they’ll let the new T know .. but I’ll go post a note through to say to keep letters what come from starling ect ectIf the new tenant is wise they will tell you the cheque hasn't arrived, and meantime return it to sender. They shouldn't get involved in handing cheques/letters to someone they don't know from Adam/Eve.The Agent also shouldn't be bothering the new tenant with your problem. The agent's response to you should have been that you need to sort either a redirection or give all organisiations who might write to you your correct address. You have no right to expect the new tenant to keep letters and effectively act as your unpaid mail handling service - nor should you expect them to help you deceive Starling as to your current place of residence. It is really unfair of you to ask them to do this. It isn't your property/home anymore.

Had you done that then you would at least know that the cheque would turn up where you live now.It wouldn't be obvious in the circumstances where you had an account with a financial institution and hadn't told them your new address though.Personally I'd tell the bank I'd moved and set up a redirection to catch any mail which was sent to the old address during the changeover period.callum9999 said:
I find the sanctimonious "why didn't you just do it properly" snipes you get on here unpleasant.
So you genuinely believe that people aren't aware that it's good practice to keep your address updated with the bank?
Well for the first, it was obvious and was in response to someone being rude, so no, that's not a valid point. For the second, fair enough.0 -

It isn't your property/home anymore.I think masonic has covered this already - but aside from the very important issue of security, I guess it also comes down to the difference between the new tenant offering to hold onto post, and a situation where this happens - "I’ll go post a note through to say to keep letters what come from starling ect ect "callum9999 said:
So you genuinely believe that people aren't aware that it's good practice to keep your address updated with the bank?Doesn't the mere existence of this thread demonstrate the point adequately? If not, there are many more threads on the forum detailing the problems people have had where they forgot (or deliberately failed) to update their details with a financial institution.2 -
Another update **Starling said that the cheque was processed on the 14/09/2022
Does that mean that they sent it out to the address0 -

Does that mean that they sent it out to the addressYou didn't ask Starling that when they told you it had been "processed"?Any answers we can give will just be guesses. If you want the correct answer, call Starling again.2 -
processed means printed and sent out (posted)0

Oh for the love of all that's good and holy.
Just call Starling, tell them you've moved, fulfill whatever proof of address requirements they have e.g. furnishing them with a copy of your drivers license / bank statement (other bank) confirming this new address and ask that a cheque be sent to the correct address and the old one cancelled. It's literally that simple, there's no reason for this thread to have gone on for five pages.
Let this be a lesson to you for not updating your address with everyone who you hold an account with when you move.8
