Good to 'see' you again, I read most of your previous diary but rarely commented. You now seem to have got your priorities right. Well done, & good luck.2

Hi Alt, I’m someone who only commented a few times on your previous diary but I’ve been looking out for a new one for a while so it’s good to see you back along with many changes to your lives. This new diary comes across as positive which, without meaning to cause offence, has been a long time coming. It’s so good to read that your wife is on board and that you’re both in therapy, that can only benefit you all.
Please feel very proud of yourselves.4 -
Thanks all. My priorities have evolved tbf not always easy but I needed to do this. I was destroying myself and those unfortunate enough to be my family. Seen it for what it is. Had a bit of slip the past few days just with struggling not to spend money on things because I’m not entirely well. Yesterday was in the mindset it’s world mental health day, set up something for staff and I could do with a ’treat’ fml. This morning I’m thankful for my family seeing something not quite right before I did spend money off plan and let them down. Idk why I’m sharing this, I suppose it’s just to say you don’t have to do things alone but when you make it difficult for others to help often you’re just making things worse for yourself and those who care about you.5

Great news that your family are more aware now or maybe were aware before but now feel able to say something and help prevent something you would later regret. This emphasises the importance of having support around you. Well done at responding to the support though rather than pushing it away and carrying on regardless.2

Good to hear from you Alt.
Sounds like you have all been making some fairly major changes for the better.
Hope you enjoy your holiday with the folks which is coming up.
Keep up the hard work it will pay off in the end.
And well done you for looking after your tenants during these hard times.2 -
Had a bit of a quieter afternoon for the first time in a while today. Managed to deal with the weekly financial admin a few days late as I couldn't face it this weekend. I have been reluctant to write numbers on here as over the start to middle of the year the spending got quite bad again and I had two health related bills that weren't covered by the health insurance. We have paid that money back now through selling things we no longer want in our lives that are of value and a general reduction in lifestyle so are now working on the previous overspending to get back to where we were before, onto clearing the lot thereafter. I've chosen to close zero balance credit accounts, something I would never have done previously but rn I think it's the right thing to do - the accounts we have closed had no 0% offers just the potential to access a fair amount of (high interest) funds. Thought of some day having one credit card seems surreal ha.
@maggiem thanks. My family are helping me a lot but as you say it takes personal effort and responsibility to accept their help rather than pushing them away. Means I'm still on track with the sober October fundraiser some of my staff and I are doing too so win win really.
@RelievedSheff good to hear from you too. I've had to make changes and I hope you're right and it will pay off in the end. I'm not a complete !!!!!!, always try to do what I can for staff and tenants but thank you.
Struggling to look forward to our upcoming holiday, my wife and I were meant to be renewing our wedding vows but we have postponed it until next year by which time we hope to have the blessing of her parents. Will be nice to see my family again though.3 -
You will still have a great time with your family. Your son must be excited?

@RelievedSheff I know and thank you, just a bit of a reminder of the start / middle of this year why we aren't going ahead with plans. Anyway, yes, my son is excited, he loves his holidays. Have a bit of a surprise planned, we booked a nice villa for all of us to stay in which my parents don't know about, was somewhat of a expense but I'm looking forward to giving them a holiday too.4
