Not a great week tbh. Everybody was here all week (2a + 2k), we did 5kwh on Monday but over 9 the last 3 days. I know our main TV is a beast (why I bought it) and there has been lots of clothes washing and ironing. I love the days when they're all gone and it's just me wfh, those days we tend to do 3-5kwh. Anyway, we've still made great improvements as 14-15 per day was the regular tally1

It's that sort of meme and scare mongering in the press that will have the elderly keeping their heating off rather than education on how to heat the home more efficiently or heat the human advice.maxmycardagain said:mummy, why dont we have the electric lights on now?
I don't find them funny at all.0 -

Elderly?
Its everybody now, even some CEO's in band D houses and 2 Audis on the drive (I wont mention EV's)

About 115kwh per month, currently working out at c. £33/month.
(1 bed flat, just me, heavily insulated, heating and hot water from gas)0 -
I agree education for all, not just the elderly, about how to use heating efficiently and not just turn it off, but a CEO in a band D house is a bit far fetched🤣🤣

This always baffles me. Two of us here in a standard 3 bed semi-detached house. Everything is electric as we have no mains gas and the oil boiler uses electric for the pump, so a double whammy there.
We only put the washing machine on a couple of times a week, hardly ever use the drier. Both of us out of the house at work most days during the week, one shower each a day maximum. We never use the main oven, we use the slow cooker or mini oven instead. The oil boiler is hardly ever on during summer.
And we still have used an average of a little over 10 units a day in August! Our average across the year is 12.6 units. The only consolation is that our usage has gone down 23% since our two sons left home.1 -

If the battery (and only the battery, without allowing for the cost of the solar panel etc.) is costing you £1 a kWh, you'll need the current price of 28p/kWh to at least quadruple - rise by 300% - before there's any appreciable saving to make.maxmycardagain said:
But what if the leccy goes up 100%?...QrizB said:maxmycardagain said:For the "low" consumption items (smart TV, set top box, PC, games consoles and monitor) id seriously consider an inverter off a leisure battery with a solar panel charger via an extension cable to the itemsThat's only really worth doing if the leisure battery is free.
As mentioned in my calcs, if you're in this for the long haul then a LiFePO4 battery is a much better investment.
