179 kw for electricity in the last 31 days so if my maths is right that's around 5.77 per day. How some of you get it so low is incredible because when I am at work all day I'll come home and check and it's around 3kw when I haven't even been here. Probably early morning cuppa, shower and hot water! Last three months my monthly readings have been 183,181 and now 179. Compare it with the last four years for August where I used 258, 297, 337 and 290 I have cut down dramatically. Partly probably due to a couple of years ago when I used a mobile air con unit in the summer, where I used a fan this year. Plus little things like only having a light on in the room you are in all helps along with bigger clothes washes. Not one for turning everything off though. Amount of times I've turned something on and gone away only to realise 5 minute later it's not plugged in!!
Trying to not use the dryer which is the big eater but air drying just makes bed clothes and towels especially turn out like fibreglass. Just can't find any setting on it where it saves energy. Did an experiment with dish washer on eco setting and that used double what the normal setting does,,,,odd! Trying now to hand wash but flip of a coin energy or water bill to go up!!
Despite major reduction of usage with 179kw electric and only 6 imperial units of gas used (can't work the conversion out) bill still came to £83.71 and that's before October 80% increase and it's still summer! Frightening.1 -

Last week. consumption 414kWh, import from grid 224 kWh of which 98% was off peak so total cost to me £11.19... solar and batteries is the only way through this. That's swimming pool, hot tub, cooking and EV.0
