I average 5 a day at the moment but that's with solar supplementing it, more like 10 in the shoulder months.

It's a little unfair for me to play this game as I have solar panels/battery but here's my stats for August

    I imported  19.57kWh at 35p/kWh  £6.85 + £6.51 SC = £13.36 debit
    I exported 405.5kWh at an average of 39.5p/kWh = £160.17 credit

I do know my real actual electricity consumption averaged 7.75kWh a day (2 adult empty nesters in 4 bed det) and I probably would have used a little bit less if it wasn't "free".

Magic energy cans, where do I sign up ;-) Do they come from the same place as self charging electric cars?

... and if you fancy paying £3.99 for a can of beans, rather than 22p, you still can.

  • I can't get below an average of 10 kWh per day. 2 adults 3 kids. How are similar sized families getting less than me. I'm hoping for a revolution when my wattage meter thing arrives :)

Last 2 months upto last week, running consistently in the 18kWh per day.    However, as of this week, it is down to a low of 11.3kWh and I am hoping to get it under 10kWh by tomorrow.

Most of the saving was turning things off standby and at the plugs along with turning off lights that were on in the evening or overnight (some have to stay on but most were not nice to have rather than need to have).

Another 2 kWh per day saved was replacing the American FF with another more energy-efficient one. That arrived Tuesday and made an instant change.   Today, a new dishwasher has arrived which uses a third of the old one.

So, from 18.x kWh a day down to 10-11 kWh per day without any detriment to lifestyle.  I doubt I can get it any lower but it is nice to see background use in the 80wH range instead of 240wH

Two sacrifices will be made this year.  The Electric AGA uses 270kWh per week.  Normally turned on in October to June.  It wont be turned on apart from in December (depends on whether I miss the heat in the Kitchen which may result in more oil being used from the central heating).   And the wine cooler is off but the new fridge has increased capacity as well as being more energy efficient.  So, it will act as an uncooled cupboard until prices drop.
