Weekly Flylady Thread 17th December 2007

  • Hi all, today is the first day in what feels like an age that I haven't had to get up and be somewhere half an hour ago and it's just fab!

I've just had a read of the last couple of days of the thread and send big hugs to all with the rotten lurgey. I seem to have escaped it so far but a lot of my family were too poorly to enjoy the Christmas break. Hugs too to embb and sexymouse for fall outs and poorly motors.

I'm still in my PJs (new ones from Santa) and kind of don't know where to start on the tip that is my house. Considering I've not been here much in the past week it's awful; I've just been grabbing clean clothes, dumping presents, flopping with hangovers, lazy eating and getting in from work shattered so today is a bit of a mission in reorganising Life.
There's something about the end of the year that makes me feel like resolving stuff so I'm going to take an A4 pad round as I do each room and write a, probably huge and unachievable, list of stuff that needs doing, fixing, replacing etc. Talk about biting off more than I can chew, if only I'd kept up with Flylady the past few weeks I'd not have to be doing this today!
    Catch you later.

I just broke me bed, the base is now broke.
Tried to move the bed and the whole thing collapsed, that is just tipical to happen now when there is no point buying a new one.

Right i've calmed down, i'm not gonna worry about it, mattress on the floor will do for now. Right had my wee break and my wee moan now back to sorting this bedroom out.:(
Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough.
And things go wrong no matter what I do.
Now and then it seems that life is just too much.
But you've got the love I need to see me through.

To all those who have this icky horrid bug and those with littlies and partners who have it I really feel for you all, hope you are all better soon.

vanilla, yikes, that sounds dangerous! Might be worth trying Freecycle or similar for a base, has been a few offered on our local one recently because of people replacing them in the sales.

embb, sounds like it was a relief, not nice all the same when things become confrontational.

Dusty, sorry :o just thinking out loud again. Thanks for the thoughts, did get some sleep but my sheets definately need washing now, urgh. DS2 managed to wet the bed, before he did he's somehow removed all of his sheets so soaked his mattress, will have to try to vax that later

G&B I do mine online, mainly because even with the good filing system when I need it, I can't find it, saves me needing insurance documents etc.

Right, well all I have managed so far is making breakfasts and lunches for the boys who are eating better which is good, filled DW and started that, sorted the mountains of rubbish I have now put them all into large sacks and it's in the conservatory waiting for when I have the energy to drive to the tip, vacuumed through downstairs and 2 loads of washing in. Loads to do, just no energy to do it. Hopefully someone is collecting some of the cardboard I was going to take to the tip off freecycle, all those Wilkinsons boxes, over £800 worth of orders in a month means lots of big boxes :o

I need a laundry fairy I think, it's not so much putting it in the machine or out to dry that bothers me, it's putting it away, I hate that bit.
One day I might be more organised...........

    Afternoon Folks

Sorry to hear about your bed vanilla - always something isnt there:rolleyes:

Well DD1 woke up twice in the night with bad dreams, third time she came into bed with us and then threw up (so another set of bedding to do), she seems to have been fine since but when she jumped out of bed to throw up she started weeing too, so poor love is there heaving and trying to say sorry for weeing at same time (she is only just 5 - bless her). So mopped it up best way you can at 4.20am with wonky contact lenses. Hubby got up and let me and little go back to sleep (:A thats for him:D ). I didnt get up till late so had to do quick shower, slap on makeup and hit the road. Therefore I have our bedroom carpet to shampoo when I get home. Have told DH not to worry about the tidying and just let the kids run free as I expect by now he is well and truely worn out. So plan of campaign for later:-

Put bedding in WM then throw in T/D (so glad DH talked me into that now)
    S & S lounge
    S & S Kitchen
    Make chicken nuggets for tea
    Shampoo bedroom carpet
    tidy littles room
    clear hallway
    hoover through
    Cook tea
Wrap DH present with littles help
    Ironing

Basically I guess everyroom with need a declutter. In-laws coming over for tea tomorrow as DH birthday, I am at work 10 till 3 so doing brisket in slowcooker with a rich gravy (got recipe off here and it is now a firm favourite). Need to make his birthday cake in the morning too.

Work is quiet (no surprise there!) got a viewing to do later and thats it. I could be at home making things to put in my new huge freezer or doing the ironing or sat down watching "hairspray" again - kids love this film but surely 20 times in 4 days is enough for anyone? Bet DH is going batty:rotfl:

Book 15 finished, and I have re-surfaced. Did that pink wobbler come through my house and throw everything around or something?

Vanilla - where are you? We have a spare base!

Tia Mai - waily waily? Pratchet by any chance? Much used in our house. Also in total agreement on txt tlk - but have 15 year old step son so reasonably clued up. We don't understand half of what he sends so his Dad sends random gibberish back.

  • Graduated from PJs to scruffs and the kitchen and back porch are clean as whistles. I've run out of starclen now though so no more wet cleaning today. I've tidied a bit in the livingroom and vaccuumed so it's habitable. I need to change my bed from the 'cream with muddy catpaws' bedding to the dark brown but the two moggies are still in it and I need the excuse not to bother today. Shortlived enthusiasm but I'm happy with what I've done so far!

I'm being very organised (and sitting down for a bit) and going through 2007 calendar and handbag diary and filling in next year's diary with things like car tax, MOT (gets me every year, I'm always sure its Feb but it's January) dentists, birthdays and the like. Very therapeutic in a control freak kinda way. I'm also re-doing my household folder with a new list of things I need to save for and pay off.. Corr blimey, my head needed this, I feel like I've been getting in a right jumble the past couple of months.

The plan for the rest of the afternoon is to find homes for my pressies from under the tree, lots of smellies so a bathroom cabinet reshuffle is needed which will lead to a bath and use up session. Bliss.. More than makes up for being dragged out to a house party tonight by Mr Messy when I'd rather stay in with cats, TV and chocolate.

Afternoon all back from our walk. Found both treasures caches so successful trip. All just having a late lunch then I need to do a shopping list as we have family tomorrow. I really want to meal plan in the New Year - I don't mind cooking I just never know what to cook. I have a huge box of receipes from mags/supermarkets etc. Each week I plan to cook a receipe and then either file it if it is good or recycle it if not.

  • I like that recipe plan Dusty. I've saved loads of recipes too but seem to have a repetoir (?) of about 10 meals. A new one each week? I might just borrow your idea for the first of my resolutions.

Solway I was thinking exactly the same thing. So fed up of cooking the same things. I am usually put off from trying a recipe because it has an item in it I dont usually like but will join the challenge.
