Just in the process of sorting DD's bedroom out again! As well as doing numerous washes to try and catch up with the laundry.

Having a quick break so thought I'd come and see what you were all up to!

    Catch you later

    Morning all

Not much doing here today, am sat at work till 3pm. I am trying to come up with a meal plan but feeling uninspired:o . Determined to seriously cut back on the food budget, did ok for a couple of months and came in under but been pushing the upper limit for the last few months so must improve.

Does anyone know of any good portion size containers that can be put in the oven from frozen? When I batch do lasagna etc I use the foil trays for individual size portions and even though they are only a couple of quid can soon get through a pack of them (plus not exactly environmentally friendly either).

Did not do any ironing last night as just felt really tired so pencilling that in for tomorrow. Was good this morning as had a quick dejunk (as in put all the tat back in the littles room:rolleyes: ), brisket was in slow cooker by 8am and make sponges for DH birthday cake, one of which stuck to the inside of the tin:mad: so will need glueing with jam!

I also have about 3 loads of washing to do but am refusing to do anymore until I have caught up with the ironing.

Has Pigpen surfaced yet after her dash to the pub last night??

Lil_me - I would have been peed off with OH too, taking the night off so he could sort his stuff out. DH annoys me when he has time off ill but can manage to sit at the computer all day. Humph! grump over:D .

Right off to look through the recipe index for some ideas.

Starving now. Compost all emptied and moved to the front garden where I plan to create a veg patch this spring. Composting is amazing - kids could not believe that the veg peeling and garden stuff turns back to soil.

    OH chainsawing logs.

**looks for pigpen** nope no sign of her just yet

Tubs - Wilkinsons, Instore, Poundland they all do the foil ones for reasonable money! Another way is to make it in say a Pyrex dish, freeze it in there once cooled, pop it out once it's frozen and put it in a plastic bag (usually just tipping it up will work but if it sticks pop the dish onto something warm for a few seconds to loosen it), when you are ready to use it slip it back into the dish while it defrosts and throw in the oven. That way saves on pots/tubs/disposable containers and most of all space in the freezer, I find this way they stack really well.

Food ideas, how about something Mexican? I love Mexican food now but just can't face anything so you can have some for me! Fajitas, enchilladas, tacos, chilli, anything...

Dusty, I am guessing it's a little warmer where you are, there is still frost here today, brrr, last place I want to be is the garden.

I'm now clean and dressed, been good for me actually the steam seems to have helped a bit and I feel a little more 'human'. Next washer load is in, then the others are on hold until some is dry as I will be out of drying space.

I just walked into DS1s room and walked stright back out before I cried, it was tidy last night and now it's a mess again, door firmly closed!

Freecycle guy been for the boxes, pleased I offered them now as will half what I need to cart to the tip. I still need to call the council to complain on Monday about our bins not being emptied last week when everyone elses was. They won't take it if the lid won't shut here and now I have 9 bags in the conservatory....grr! I tried calling Thursday and Friday to get the answering machine message of 'you have called at a busy time, call back later' all day!

It is one of those days here that we class as a 'no weather day' no wind, no rain, no sun, no sky just white. It is mild enough to be out in a thermal, fleece and jumper.

Everybody fed lunch, hooverd kitchen, family room and hall -OH can do living room.

Going to tidy the kitchen a bit and make the crumble/ham glaze/steamed pudding. Just remembered I have a fresh pinapple which will be ripe so I will slice that up to put on the table too. Just need to do something with pots - thinking wedges just need to see how - can't be difficult.

Brrr, nope, I went outside when the man came for the boxes and to take the dogs, that is enough for me, even if I do want to use my new leaf rake.

Loads of ways to do wedges, easiest is just in chunks put them in a bag with some oil and shake til they are covered (or use spray oil) I do like to add some either italian style herbs or some cajun style seasoning then they cook at 180 in my oven in about 30-35 minutes.

There is a naughty way I love which is to use baked potatoes, wedge them then deep fry, yummy, but I don't have a deep fryer now so I don't have them, making me hungry at the thought of those. We used to make them in the restaurant I worked in, great topped with grated cheese

About an inch or just under where the skin is I usually go for, so yeah fat chip size, I usually slice in half then work my way round, average size spud usually about 6-8 wedges, does that make any sense at all? Some par boil them first but I tried it once and they fell to bits. With the baked then fried I do big spuds and much thicker wedges :o less fattening when fried and they are already cooked.

Oh there is an embarrasing one to share, I decided to be lazy and make some wedges so put them in my 'apple slicer' then realised I now had 'tubes' of potato left from where the corer bit is :o so we had wedges and tubes. Kids then asked for 'round chips' next time and were told no, trying to explain why was another matter, 1 potato = 1 round chip!
