Quiet day working from home today, which is just as well as I've had a headache pretty much all day. Did manage to get some cleaning done which was much needed! Food shop being delivered shortly and then I'll get myself ready for bed. Last day of the month tomorrow turtles, we can do it!7

Today I am grateful for dc going to school (for lesson 3 onwards, but much better than not at all), for a good haul for £9 from the local ch shop, for space to think, for getting some things out of the house and making other people happy.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!6

Thursday NSD 13/15Really pleased to have done 13 NSDs this month.September was one of my ‘super save’ months - a month when I don’t save in all the usual envelopes (like emergency, house maintenance, car, etc) but pay one lump sum towards a mortgage OP. Depriving those envelopes of one month’s deposits doesn’t impact them too much and making a bigger one off mortgage OP feels great - big dopamine hit for me 🤣I’ve consumed too much news today - it feels like the worst of times. I have a few unsavoury words for it but I’m sure I’d be banned from the MSE site if I shared them here. Fired them out at OH and Mum - they’re equally appalled at what’s going on. Sorry for bringing up here, turtles. I just feel a need to vent…Grateful for a roof over my head, for a 10 year fixed rate mortgage, for food in my fridge, and for heat in my house.NST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸9

NSD#13
Had a good laugh in the post office before work. A top bod came to work today, to chat with the support staff, then spoke to visiting agency folk, one teacher & one support member, so I felt quite annoyed he hadn't spoken with the rest of us. How can you get a glimpse of what's going on, if you don't speak to the majority of the permanent people?!! Sorry, about ranting, we were very annoyed! Joined in activities this afternoon, soy thighs ache with all the running! Had a job stopping when to Ng full pelt, & even ended up with 3 holla hoops round one ankle after jumping through a line of them on the ground 🤣
Waited after work for my friend/colleague who's auntie died suddenly yesterday. We went for a quick walk round the block, then stood talking, so was 2 hours after school finished before we left for home! Took the old microwave to the dump, good job the new one arrived yesterday as ours just stopped working. Spent the evening sewing, then had a soak in the bath.
Grateful for laughter, compliments on my green top & cardigan, joining in with games, being able to support a friendUse it up, wear it out

September Recap (Notes from a journey)
It's never too late to live the life you always wanted - like the reclaimed pit spoils and flashes, we can be transformed
Tree planting season is nearly upon us. Enjoy hibernation but don't forget to bloom again in spring
SIMPLIFY Buy second hand
What in your life needs to change. Enjoy your life as it is now (being content with what you have is true wealth)
Think about every purchase wants and needs
Simple food Give your body what it needs
Mindfulness - be aware of what is going on all around you, take time to check in with your body, especially when things are fraught
Be KIND
Concentrate on what your body can do and improve on it
5 R's Tread lightly on the earth
Write it on your heart every day is the best day in the year. He is rich who owns the day, and no-one owns the day who allows it to be invaded by fret and anxiety. Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some errors and absurdities no doubt crept in. Forget them as soon as you can, tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely, with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense. This new day is too dear, with it's hopes and expectations, to waste a moment on the yesterdays

Good morning turtles!
Reporting NSD 13. Overall I am very pleased with how the month went and I think a lot of it is to do with reducing my booze intake... I seem to be looking after myself better in all areas and have more motivation. I must have also saved money, I’ll see if I can put a figure on it. I also paid to my savings account first (ie as soon as payday landed) for the first time ever and got a PB for NSDs.Thank you so much grandmanerd for the challenge, I loved your advice and the canal trip made me feel very nostalgic about the UK.I am super grateful for this thread and for all of you turtles...Have a great weekend and see you all in October!Student loan £5655

Sorry didn’t update yesterday one of those days!!
Yesterday was an NSD which meant I’ve achieved the target with 15/15 NSDs.
Took DS to high school open evening. Everyone else seems to have had a wonderful experience we just wandered around aimlessly so don’t think we got the best out of it. I am happy with the school but DH wants to check out another. We’re disagreeing on a lot of things at the moment so just add this to the list!!DS liked it but got worried about all of the school trips they were promoting especially New York ££££££.Anyway, Just planned my October budget as payday today. Once pots are replenished I’ll have £100 for personal spends. Already need £50 for presents and cards and need to pay a Christmas night out deposit and we’re away for a long weekend so that pretty much makes me skint before the month starts!! I suppose I should think myself lucky I’ve covered my bills, increased my grocery & fuel pots and still have money left over. Thanks for running the challenge grandmanerd.

Well, friends have now gone back home so it's just Himself and me till the Boy comes back to get us next week. The holiday hasn't gone quite as planned. Not nearly enough walking but it has been relaxing. I've read a lot and we've had a surprising amount of NSDs.
I have been having a nightmare with technology this morning. Firstly the keyboard on my laptop wouldn't type but I've fixed that, Don't know how I did it but I did. Then there seemed to be very little or no signal at all on Himself's mobile so I can't get the passcode to get into his bank account. Banking will now have to wait till I get home because I'm tired of faffing about.
Sorry I've been a bit remiss on checking in every day. Starting to rain heavily again so it looks like another day indoors.
Thanks for the challenge, Grandmanerd.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.8 -
If I can manage not to spend today (really going to try!!) then I will hit 15 NSDs. Every other day as an NSD is fine by me!Really grateful for my own wage packet going into the bank, and combining with the housekeeping to look very nice this morning. Today and yesterday were a postal strike, but non union members (probably 0 hrs agency staff) were still out so I got a delivery yesterday and might get one today. I will not mind if I do not get a delivery. I support the strike.Swallowed a frog by listing an item for sale on the local Place-of-the-Market-Face page. It is a bath lift.***Just got interrupted by the doorbell - a postman (the manager of the distribution centre no less) just delivered a signed for letter containing the inheritance cheque - he was in his own car, so they must be doing the 'important' letters themselves today.Off to the bank PDQ and getting this in the system.I love you all4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
