Good morning turtles
today should be NSD12. I think this is the best run of NSDs I’ve ever had...
meditation done yest and today and cardio at lunch yest. No morning pages need to wake up slightly earlier, but I have been reading before bed.
All food from stores.
Work is still busy but I am surviving.
Grateful for a slow morning with bf who had a class cancelled, for the free gym at work, for having a decent night’s sleep.Student loan £5655

Wednesday 28th September 2022
(really having to think about this, woke in the middle of the night trying to work out if it was Saturday or Sunday - next weekend not last)
Wellbeing Wednesday
Your digital wellbeing matters
Avoid looking at your phone for the first hour of each day
Mute or unfollow people who bring you down
Set realistic timers and follow them
Keep your phone in a drawer when you're not using it
Take a day off. Enjoy nature and get some exercise.
Do more of the bits you love and get help with the things you loathe
Zero Waste Gift Guide
1 Reduce the number of people you buy for. I think Martin's too preoccupied with making sure people live that long but we have passed the 100 days reminder to that day. Alternatively watch the Big Bang Theory episode with Sheldon's 'obligation' speech (might be called Spock DNA)
2 Quality not Quantity Buy well in the first place, buy things that will last
3 Theatre or concert tickets
4 Experience gifts
5 Home made gifts Use a reusable jar or tin for packaging hm edibles
6 Gift Promise Note babysitting, gardening, help with the computer
7 Vintage, antique or second-hand Everyone benefits
8 Digital Download or on-line magazine subscription vouchers available
9 Zero waste starter kit
10 Zero waste subscription boxes Who gives a crap do subscriptions (be aware of who you're buying for, not sure I'd want toilet rolls for Isaac Newton's birthday (although I'd happily buy them for myself with gifted money)
11 Buy unpackaged gifts or use zero waste friendly packaging. When looking for gifts be a mindful consumer. Is it something that will be useful? Think what it's made from, is the packaging easily disposable. I always bought my mum multiples of the toiletries she used - no 'gift boxes'. Others ignored this rule and I spent 21 months in lockdown using up all the 'extra bits' that mum had put to one side (several toiletry bags worth - also from the gift boxes). Handmade soaps, books, a nice woollen throw and wooden toys all make great gifts.
End Quotes
Every day is a new beginning. Take a deep breath, smile and start again.
Tonight as the sun sets, put down your troubles, count your blessings (gratitudes). Remind yourself that whatever you did today was enough. Tomorrow is another day, a fresh start, a new beginning.

ldee, travel spending doesn't lose you an nsd. Go you!Today I am grateful for dc going to school and going on a theatre trip too, for getting to the gym, for finishing knitting bil's bday pair of owls and sending them, for online books, for adapting quickly to my new specs (a fair change in one eye), for dh becoming more and more aware of price increases.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!6

Can’t believe September is nearly over! Here is my update for today.
Simplify - Recycled about 6 cardboard boxes. I am that person who keeps empty boxes because they might come in handy!
Essential Spends - NSD 14/15 Nothing left in my account so can’t spend until Friday!
Planning & preparation- Wrote out a meal plan & a grocery list ready for Friday
Think about spends - Nothing spent today but did think about groceries and how to do cheap meals as it’s a 5 week month for me in October.
Eat to nourish- DS needed an early tea and I didn’t want anything then. Hungry now but can’t be bothered cooking so had some toast. Not sure if DH will bother when they come in.Be kind - Invited DS friend here after school for a bit and fed & watered him.
Exercise - I’m really tired today, had to go into the office for a meeting but feel totally drained. I tend to feel like this when I go in. I think maybe the lights hurt my eyes or could be the stress of parking etc. Haven’t achieved my steps yet for today.

Went into the office today, was meant to have lunch with my boss so I didn't bring food with me but she got called to an urgent meeting so cancelled on me. I bought a meal deal so spent £4, still probably cheaper than going out somewhere!
I also made a start on the December spending. Nothing crazy just a couple of candles. May have bought one for myself tooI also booked a night away for OH's birthday as a treat. It's at a car-themed hotel which we'll both enjoy.
So overall a spendy day but all planned and budgeted for.6 -
NSD 14 for me - not spent a bean today, been too busy tidying. Yesterday I hit the c/shops and picked up a brand new hardback book for 20p for "THE C-WORD", and a brand new My Neighbour Totoro mug complete with lid, polystyrene insert, and box for £1 - just like this one https://shutupandtakemyyen.com/product/my-neighbor-totoro-mug/So technically I have started my C-word shopping. As I am planning on doing 90% of it new-to-me, I want to do a circuit of the c/s's once a week. Total so far £1.204/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Yesterday was NSD#12
A good day at work, helped the headteacher with a tricky pupil at lunchtime. My friend said the head had been 'bragging me up to her', so she must've been glad of my help! Took things to the dump after work, felt good to have it out if the house 😊
Went to my sewing class, one of the ladies usually runs with a group beforehand, but is only going on a Thursday from now on, which means we can start the class half an hour earlier, so I'll get home at a more reasonable time. She also offered to give me a lift from the pier (next Tuesday after our class) to my mum's with my luggage for my hospital trip & holiday, so will save me walking a few miles late at night with a heavy load 😍 All pupils had a great time & managed to finish making their fully lined stocking. Shattered when I got home!
Grateful for being appreciated, class going well, the kindness of others
Wednesday
My turn to buy the local paper this week, so I did spend.
Work went fine again, did lots of running with various pupils, playing chase or races. Made them all laugh anyway, & me pant cos out of breath! 🤣
Slept for 2 hours when I got home, must've been a deep sleep as I remember dreaming.
Ordered DS3's birthday presents, then did some sewing jobs.
Grateful for recharging my batteries, managing to avoid the snappy teacher all day (wasn't with her 1:1 pupil), laughing with pupilsUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Wednesday updateWorked in a different office yesterday. Only me and one other colleague I’d never met. In the 4 hours we spent together - I think we each shared our life stories - the massive ups and the deepest, darkest downs. My new friend was in her 60s so she had more life tales to tell. We didn’t get much work done but it was lovely to spend that amount of time talking to someone I’d never met. We both concluded that the hardest moments in life really can make you stronger, a more kind and caring person, give you more perspective and clarity. As we said goodbye and a ‘hope we meet again’, I felt a strong urge to give her a cuddle which I didn’t do because I thought it was a bit weird.Only used fuel in car to get there which I’ll be able to claim on expenses. So yesterday was NSD 12/15. No spend but an enriching day.OH got home last night. Although I enjoyed the bed to myself for the last few nights, I was really happy to have him home.Grateful for meeting yet another wonderful woman (there are so many of us), for honest and enriching conversation, and for OH being home.

Morning turtles
thank you for the Cday ideas grandmanerd and what a bargain f0xh0les... I really do miss English charity shops! They are rubbish here.
It’s that odd time of year in Madrid where one week you’re in shorts and the next in trousers and boots, and then back to shorts again. Loads of my winter clothes do not fit, so I think I will be haunting the charity shops this weekend.
Check in for yest, it was indeed NSD12, all food was from stores. Had to work a bit through lunch but managed to get outside for a bit. Had an aerial class after work. Got home at 11pm and ate a small dinner which I didn’t want to do (brought enough food to have dinner before the class but ate it all and was still hungry) but slept soundly regardless. Meditation done. Still no morning pages/journaling but want to pick that up again next week. Grateful for sleeping well, for it being almost the weekend, for finding some extra coffee in the cupboard so I didn’t lose my NSD!Student loan £5655

A massive thank you to everyone who's been involved this September. Celebrate all your tiny wins, your new laid back mindsets and the bits where you didn't quite make your target. Do your best, swim along with the turtles and if it gets tough, just keep going (or treading water). Those who take part (and our cohorts of followers who read along) are what make this thread. The new month starting on Saturday gives us the chance to try again, try harder, be nicer to ourselves and others, look at things a different way and have fun along the way.
