Quote today (Aug 22) from the Government. "People should carry on using as much energy as they want because there is no risk of winter blackouts, No 10 says"
All bills please to Prime Minister Sunak or Prime Minister Truss!!

Of course they'll be saying that, they are collecting the tax from the inflated bills!
Higher bills, more tax for them = more Christmas parties

If this government says there is no risk of blackouts, then I would invest heavily in Big Candle Inc.12

Maybe it would make sense not to leave out an important part.

All bills please to Prime Minister Sunak or Prime Minister Truss!!Do you want to be a tabloid editor when you grow up ?The actual statement from No 10 wasHouseholds, businesses, and industry can be confident they will get the electricity and gas that they need over the winter.

I'm increasingly of view that without demand reduction this winter then some form of energy rationing is inevitable. Of course, the price increases will do some of that work but I'm not sure it will be enough - and the government pretending we can just carry on as usual isn't helpful.
But then I'm one of life's pessimists!4 -
You are not the only pessimist.
We bought PowerStations to be prepared and get through a work day should we have a black-outs. Otherwise we can charge them now during summer with solar and save a few penny.

The best price to storage I got with a 1KWh battery including a 120w solar panel for £540 from Ebay.
Suaoki 1000W Portable Power Station Generator+120w Solar Panel Camping Charging
I did a bid for £540, which was accepted, a few minutes later I was offered it for £539 for a different listing from the same seller.
Only thing I dislike is that you only get the battery percentage shown, and not how many watt you charge or discharge with. This is much better for a smaller 500wh device
What I like is that you can charge from a charger and through USB c at the same time, which reduces charging time. AC sockets are 1000w with 2000w peak.
There are better and more sophisticated models, for example with much faster charging, but I find that this one gave me best value for money, and I have also tested two other devices with 300wh and 500wh.

Much appreciated, will investigate further!0

very very unlikely to be blackouts. However its going to be very very expensive, hopefully with some direct incentive to reduce demand.1
