Parent is on the priority register because of age - 83. She’s perfectly capable of making a hot drink in a thermos, making sure she eats before the power goes off, getting the hot water bottle out if necessary and finding her torch, with enough notice.
Being an older person on the register doesn’t automatically mean you’re going to struggle if the power goes off for a couple of hours and you know it’s coming.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • Does a fully charged EV have the ability to return power to the property and run the electrics for a few hours ?

No. The best you can hope for (without having planned in advance and spent £5-6k on a V2H charger) is V2L, where the EV takes the role of a portable generator and you can plug an extension lead into it.

    Interesting - thanks
I really like the thought of being able to run my full house, independant of the grid - can you imagine if every other property in the area was plunged in to blackness - and there I was with lights on, CH and TV running as if nothing had happened

If somehow powering by EV, they may find said EV suddenly 'stops working' overnight...
  • And I was looking forwards to retirement - I am almost 59 years old
