    Interesting - thanks
I really like the thought of being able to run my full house, independant of the grid - can you imagine if every other property in the area was plunged in to blackness - and there I was with lights on, CH and TV running as if nothing had happened
No chance the local ne'er do wells might see it as a great place to go and warm themselves up?
  • According to Octopus, balance forecast - I just need to keep on paying my current £85.56 per month and everything will work out in the end...

Have you switched on the forecast crystal ball option. Just slightly above the calculation and above the graph there is a tab you can move on or off
    Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

    Mortgage Jan 18- 77224 May 25- just under 65k

June 25 Debts in my name only £5170. DH can't keep track...

Is that the "slider of doom"? 😉
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

Yes it is a bit. My forecasts were shocking and that's without all the extra forecasts this week

Though you use less energy that doesn't mean you use any less infrastructure to get the energy to your home than a high user, so there's no good reason why you should pay less for the standing charge.

(I say this as a low user myself).

What about the fact that since I use less power - I should pay less for fault repairs (ie Cable and High voltage pylon repairs) as well as for repairing gas leaks) ?
A fair proportion of the standing charge does pay towards this

Should you pay less car tax for doing less miles? Cheaper MOT's?
Cheaper Spotify sub as you play less songs than the average person?

    Things are what they are.
  • What are the new rates for Flexible Octopus October 2021 v2 both electricity and gas and what are the new Standing Charges ?
