No to direct debits and also no to paying your credit card bill by DC. Do you really think it would be that easy? The exception will relate to at least one of these:Imvrasos said:Regarding the cashback, would direct debits for items such as council tax and credit card bills be considered? I didn't notice a direct reference in Chase's list.- Account and prepaid card funding

And yet my NOW TV monthly bill payment happily generates cashback. On a day and age when people spend 5' to switch their account and get paid hundreds of £s, my question is perfectly reasonable, and shared by anyone who might consider joining Chase.A simple answer to a simple question is more constructive, instead of throwing colourful comments on other posters' questions.0 -
Sounds like a CPA (Continuous Payment Authority) on the debit card rather than a direct debithttps://community.nowtv.com/t5/Account-Billing/paying-by-direct-debit/m-p/582629
- Unfortunately NOW don't do Direct Debit payments.
- When using their TV streaming services you need to pay either by credit or debit card

It's debit card cashback in the case of Chase; obviously for a limited period of time. For many of the early adopters, it's due to end on 28th February. For others, as soon as their 12 months are up. Unless Chase extend it again.ColdIron said:Sounds like a CPA (Continuous Payment Authority) on the debit card rather than a direct debithttps://community.nowtv.com/t5/Account-Billing/paying-by-direct-debit/m-p/582629- Unfortunately NOW don't do Direct Debit payments.

Of course it will, why wouldn't NowTV generate cashback if it's a debit card transaction? Perhaps you're misunderstanding the difference between a direct debit and a debit card transaction? Anyway, it isn't a money transfer etc.. I think my response was straightforward and I hope I've helped you understand how to interpret the exclusions.Imvrasos said:wmb194 said:

I'd guess that a large proportion of customers will abandon their Chase account on the 1st March if nothing happens. Might prompt something to be offered.

I'll be switching back to my Barclays 0.25% cashback as soon as this one stops giving me 1% as I'm getting tired of logging into my current account to transfer funds to my chase account. It's nice that Chase works well with Google Pay and never asks for my PIN or card though. I have to use Curve with Barclays, as otherwise it keeps declining unless I keep using C&P which is a PITA.miller said:I'd guess that a large proportion of customers will abandon their Chase account on the 1st March if nothing happens. AFAIK Barclays had a dodgy batch of cards which exhibited that problem. I'm considering getting Curve so I can use my Barclaycard with Google Pay if/when Chase cashback goes. I assume Barlcaycard still don't support Google Pay, I've not tried adding it.Astria said:I have to use Curve with Barclays, as otherwise it keeps declining unless I keep using C&P which is a PITA.

On the plus side, I quite like the security angle that if there are insufficient funds Chase give a flat decline. I wont miss doing the transfers over though either.Astria said:I'll be switching back to my Barclays 0.25% cashback as soon as this one stops giving me 1% as I'm getting tired of logging into my current account to transfer funds to my chase account.

So you have to go the Google Pay -> Curve -> Barclaycard route to avoid this unnecessary complication. I'm assuming that all 3 get a cut of the transaction each time ?If you do decide to go for Curve, let me know, I think we both get something if I refer you.
Yes, I do like that, until you are in a pub, tap your phone, walk off and then the bar tender comes running over to your table saying "That didn't go through", and you have to quickly transfer funds to try again whilst they are standing their with the card reader - at which point you find out you have no internet access and need to connect to their WiFi.miller said:

This cannot be the reason, as Barclaycard has been working perfectly with ApplePay for years. I can also use any number of other cards on my phone / in ApplePay alongside my Barclaycard.Astria said:Barclays say there's no need to support Google Pay as their app manages the contactless part directly, which means you can't use any other cards with your phone and also means you get declined if you've spent too much through it and have to get your physical card out.
Barclaycard do support GooglePay in the US. So it must be something peculiarly British if it doesn't work in the UK.0
