My Easter Egg molds arrived today! 2 medium sized eggs and 36 tiny eggs. I am off out later to buy the choccie and think I will spend all day tomorrow having a play and making them so I can dish them out at the weekend. :j

Thanks StephJane - you make it sound so easy!
My kids (who are now on Easter hols) have been hogging my laptop for a while so I haven't had chance to do my research.
I did just find this though which should help: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/homemadechocolateeas_4891.shtml
Note the 'tempering is essential' and the "taking care not to handle the chocolate too much as it will start to melt from the heat of your hands" - all the things we've spoken about on here before. From their instructions they say "To stick the two edges of an egg together, heat a baking sheet and then place the edges of two halves on it for a few seconds, then gently push the edges together."
Hope this helps all you folk still due to do your eggs. I'm just gonna make a few more chocolate shapes and put them in a basket with Playmobil toys and other easter paraphanalia (sp?) (including my 'display' egg!)...

I have two medium sized egg moulds and 35 baby ones. So going to put some baby ones in the middle of the medium eggs.

I made some more eggs this morning and they turned out well. (tempered and all) :-P
Again I tried to join them together but as I had trouble with a pastry brush last time I tried using a cocktail stick but that did not work. Tempered chocolate sets very fast at room temp.
So I got out a baking sheet put it in the top oven and warmed it up.
When it was hot I put the two halfs on it and melted them and stuck them together.
It worked well. But be careful! the egg will melt mega quickly when touched on a hot surface.
Definatly the easiest way to do it.JeremyMarried 9th May 20090 -

Well I DID have a plan.........did a couple of layers for 2 medium sized eggs - filled in 24 mini ones, never again with the mini ones, how fiddly pouring the choccie in them? Anyway sis turned up with 9 month old nephew and was here for ages. So finished off with a third layer when she had gone.
So will try and get them out of the mould and stick them all together and ice them tomorrow. Piccies tomorrow.A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition~ William Arthur Ward ~0 -

Thanks for putting me out of my misery - I thought I was going to have to stay up all night!:D
Y'know you said you had a problem pouring the choccie in the mini ones? Well, the simple answer is 'don't'. Use a spoon, its easier (& it says so in my chocolate treat maker instructions too!)
Did I really read you are going to 'ice' them? Don't forget to get some h&t to cover up any botches! But put the kid's names on them, they will forgive you for anything if you do that!:rotfl:
And finally, it sounds as if heating up a baking tray is the way to go for sticking the two halves together (thanks Jeremy for trying that) - but careful you don't end up with a squished pile of melted chocolate!
