I just made some heart shaped ones for Valentines for the kids and OH, some with a hazelnut in the middle, some with a mini marshmallow and some with some crunchy peanutbutter stirred in, My own Hershees peanut butter cups!!
I bought cute heartshaped trinket boxes from Asda and will line them with red tissue paper and put the choccies in.

All I have to do now is make the cards.. Like I have nothing else to do today..

All your chocolates look fantastic, I just wish I had been more organised and asked my sister in Holland to send me Dutch chocolate sprinkles, they have lots in big packets (I know they sell small tubs in Asda but are not the same) they would have looked great on top, never mind, I just have to bring lots over in the summer

..and I'm off to Tesco for some more supplies. I'm planning to make some family choccies and biccies when my hubby takes my two to see the Chuckle Brothers at the local theatre later on this afternoon. Need to recharge my batteries too (my camera batteries that is, lol)...

    Help!!!

I am making my first chocy slab.

I started melting the choc in the microwave but then changed to doing it over a pan of water.

But.......the chocolate has gone all lumpy and gritty:eek:

    Is this a disaster?

Am I better doing it over a pan than in micro?

I have mixed cooking choc with Galaxy,is that OK?

    Please advise:o

    Thanks in advance:beer:

Not sure about the mixing and if it's started to lump then it sounds like you have over done it... but I could be wrong. Just sounds burnt to me!...
I really don't know about mixing chocolate tho... sorry!

  • Hi everyone!
I've been following this thread for months now, I love all the photos!
Anyway, I'm making some chocolates for my boyfriend for Valentine's day. I made my first attempt this morning whilst he was asleep. I melted white chocolate in a bowl over a pan of hot water, but after a while the chocolate started to have a few bits in it. I was just wondering what I could do or add to make it smoothe? I added less than a teaspoon of water, big disaster! Don't think I need to tell you what happened. I was wondering if white chocolate was hard to belt? I'm always melting milk and dark chocolate to make caramel squares and it normally turns out fine.
I will definitely post pictures of my hopefully better next attempt! I bought a cute heart shape dish/bowl to put them in :) Anyway I'm going to make white chocolate with cranberries, coconut, smarties, fudge, hazelnuts, and coconut and crispies (not all together!) and milk chocolate with hazelnuts, smarties and fudge.
Thank you for any help and good luck to everyone :)
  • Doh! Melt, not belt lol!

White chocolate IS different yes... I've personally never had a problem but I tend to melt white chocolate in the microwave... short bursts and stir - till melted. Hope it helps!
