I know that people have been saying to get the shiny effect on chocolate is to use plastic moulds rather than silcon ones. Has anyone tried lining a silcon mold with clingfilm? Would this make the chocs shiny? what do people think?
I have some heart silcon molds but I dont like the dull effect that I get with them would prefer to have a shiny finish.JeremyMarried 9th May 20090 -
I have made today 5 huge heart cookies (not iced yet) 40 small heart cookies (not iced yet either) 10 choc lollies, 5 big choc hearts and 30 small ones.
The house looks like a bomb hit and the kitchen looks like a war zone. I don't want any tea I can't face it. I still have to ice them all and try to make some heart choc picks for a gateau. :eek:am going to have to do mine tomorrow...long story...involving me being covered in paint...and me going into the back of someone's car...just a nudge...no damage....but I am way behind schedule today....so will do them, tomorrow lunchtime.
.. Got the chocolate today, bar of Belgian white, milk and dark/mint chocolate. So, you went for the Belgian stuff in the end, not the Green & Blacks, eh?..
From what I can gather, Jem8472 seems to be the only one doing the job properly,'tempering,' 'snapping' ensuring the shiny finish... maybe we can all learn from her for when we come to do our Easter choccies...
I've got all me stuff, about to start, made the biscuit mix earlier so if I can tear myself away from here, I'll begin!I don't want to make money, I just want to be wonderfulMarilyn Monroe0 -

Hi all,
I have made my chocolates and they are all wrapped up now! made bum cookies like on the other thread. I will get OH to take pictures tomorrow and then will post them on here! got to say they still don't look as good as the ones on here. I had to give up on the whole trials, after eating too much.
I even made a cheesecake today, i got the ingredients of the back of the GU Chocolate and Vanilla cheesecake box and made it up myself, it had a huge layer of chocolate on top! this is for pudding tomorrow.
Thank you all!! without all these ideas i would not have a clue what to do.:j0 -
Pheew! Hello everyone! I've been busy cooking and making chocolate all afternoon! My first attempt didn't go very well, so I had a second attempt not long ago and am very pleased with the results
I made white chocolate stars (couldn't find any heart shaped moulds! But I have a heart shaped dish to put them in
) fillings and toppings range from smarties to coconut, cranberries, hazelnuts, crispies and fudge
there are combinations of some ingredients too
Thank everyone for all your help and ideas! I will post pics tomorrow
Good luck everyone and can't wait to see yours

Believe me, I would much rather have been playing with choccie than the day I had today! But tomorrow's the day! :j
And if I hear tempering or snapping again....
