I know that people have been saying to get the shiny effect on chocolate is to use plastic moulds rather than silcon ones. Has anyone tried lining a silcon mold with clingfilm? Would this make the chocs shiny? what do people think?

I have some heart silcon molds but I dont like the dull effect that I get with them would prefer to have a shiny finish.

DON'T DO IT!! Let this be a lesson to anyone making choccies today - it doesn't work! I got the dreaded creased lines all over the heart and the edges weren't nice and smooth.

I was feeling a bit guilty about calling you a her yesterday Jeremy so thought I'd try this out for you, but as you can see it is not the desired effect! (I thought I remember reading early on that cling film didn't give the crinkles but mine certainly did!

LouBlue that's where I got my heart moulds from, very quick, reliable service. Works out more expensive to start with but of course you have them for years to come. I made a mistake with my foil wraps though and ordered wrong size for moulds - my own fault it clearly states the sizes but I ignored that bit:p

qwiksave, I have to say that because of your mould that effect looks rather nice and as if it's meant to be there, I don't think it would look good on others but I think yours looks great.

Aah, thanks soblivion, I'm looking at it in a different light now..

Actually, so did my DH this morning, I presented the other side to him which was this:

Actually 'presented' wasn't the right word - I was still in bed when he went off to work. I left my chocolate and biccy offerings on the kitchen unit for him to discover this morning.

These were the cookies (I kinda like that word! ;) ):

    and these were the choccies:

(along with the cute little packet of Love Hearts!)

TBH he doesn't like choccie as much as me so I didn't go too mad - and me and my little boys will help him out! :D

    Awww, they're lovely QS!! :T

Well mine are setting...how FIDDLY! Think I will do a slab next time, looks easier. The love hearts and Tigger and Piglet ice cube moulds are quite small, and as I wanted to put tiny pieces of marshmallow in the middle, the marshmallows were stuck to my finger, I needed tweezers, but couldn't find them.

Anyway, I want to put some sprinkles on them but they still look too wet in the fridge, so hope I don't leave it too late otherwise they will just fall off the top.
