I got mine a while back from Sainsbury's - which seems to be the one place you haven't mentioned on your list.

Thank yo everyone's ideas, OH loved the heart shaped chocs I made him. I put desiccated coconut (23p for a big packet in tesco) in the mould first, and he really liked them!
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o

Oh wow - just been looking at everyones pics of the Valentine gifts you have all been making today!! I was up bright and early to make my boyfriend some choccie too. But I bet it doesn't turn out half as good as any of the choccies here!!!

Qwiksave - everytime I have attempted this with clingfilm I got creases!! :)

Rather than using clingfilm for blocks tinfoil is good as long as you smooth it out and make sure there are no creases!

Wow, some really great results on here!

I'm curious... where did you all manage to get the mini-marshmellows? I looked in Somerfield, Morrisons, Instore and Woolworths about a month ago and couldn't find any, so gave up. I was making a hot-chocolate gift mug for my mum.

Mine actually came from a hot chocolate gift mug I got for christmas,I had forgotten all about them!

  • Thanks guys! I figured that, since Morrison's didn't stock them, Sainsbury's wouldn't. Doh!

Still, at least I'll know for next time. :)
  • Thanks for all the great inspiration everybody - I would have never thought of giving this a go without all your great ideas. I made some for my husband but found it a real struggle as I've given up chocolate for lent - the smell of the melting chocolate drove me crazy and as for not being able to lick out the bowl ...! I was really chuffed with the way they turned out and as my husband is abroad for Valentine's I put them in a plastic container and then wrapped it up - my husband then decided to shake it exceptionally hard for about a minute to try and work out what was inside. Goodness knows what they look like now!! Still I don't think I will ever find out because I expect they will all be eaten by the time he gets back!

Everyone's hearts look really fantastic - thanks for the pics and ideas.

I've just let my boys have a chocolate and marshmallow 'fondue' with my choccie maker - they have been eying up DH's valentine treats all day and there was a danger that there wouldn't be any left by the time he came back. :D
