My Tesco Clubcard is also the credit card we use for all our household and joint spends, so my points accumulate more quickly.

The supermarkets tend to really vary by area - unless any Bristolians are on here you won't know how good Tesco are at subs until you try them. I've had areas where they're awful, 10 minutes down the road it's a different store and they're great. Same thing for how easy it is to get slots. I can always get a next day, but prefer booking a regular one weeks in advance.

I have a Tesco credit card that I only use in Tesco for the extra clubcard points - worth looking into if you do make it your regular shop. Along with the delivery saver, much cheaper in the long run. They used to offer 3x the value of clubcard points when you used them to buy a delivery saver which made it insanely cheap, but that's ending in two weeks.

  • I ignored this for a while as I am not a frequent Asda shopper, although I do have a 10% off facility with my blue light card. I am wondering if discounts are stackable (would I get 20% off?) or does it offer no advantage over everyone else now?
Being as you don't get the 10% off at the till with the app, you get a rolling "cashpot" then I think you'd still be able to use the blue light card at the till. So you'd get 10% off your total bill at the till plus the extra amounts in your cashpot that you redeem at a later date (which, depending on what you buy, may it may not be 10%).

However, and this is where it would fall down for you, to redeem the cashpot you'd need to scan the rewards app at the till before paying, so your total would be reduced by the cashpot voucher and then you'd get your blue light discount on the smaller total.

I may be wrong with my understanding of this but these are just my thoughts on what I know from using the Asda rewards app. Happy to be corrected by more knowledgeable people 🙂
It's worth a go then, I shall sign up!
No dice. In a canny move, the Blue Light card allows 10% off Asda until 31st December only. I think this is in an attempt to force people onto the Asda Rewards scheme in the New Year.
No man is worth crawling on this earth.

So much to read, so little time.
  • Asda says "shoppers across the UK can now earn money off vouchers". WRONG!! Only shoppers with Smart phones who do APPS can use this scheme. What about pensioners like me and others who don't have Smart phones but are loyal Asda customers. Don't we deserve to save money on our weekly shop?? Please don't tell me to go to Tesco or another store because we don't have them near me.

I am a pensioner and along with many other pensioners have a smart phone and use several shopping apps.  I know of many older than me that use a smart phone.  I am afraid you are going to have to move into the 21st century if you want to tale advantage of these offers,

93% of people in the UK have smartphones.  This is lower for older people, but still the vast majority.
    https://www.statista.com/statistics/271851/smartphone-owners-in-the-united-kingdom-uk-by-age/

Interestingly, the same proportion (93%) of UK households have a microwave.

So if you want to claim that putting discounts on apps is discriminatory, you'll also have to take umbrage at the number of food products designed for cooking in the microwave.

Hi, anyone help. Got the Asda rewards app and did weekly shopping this morning. My app barcode was scanned AFTER all the items had gone through the till checkout. My cash pot history still shows £0.00. Is this right or does it take time OR do you have to get checkout assistant scan the bar code before processing the shopping. Thanks for reading !
This happened to my OH today - he tried to scan after the checkout assistant had put the items through and was told that he had to scan prior to the items being put through.

He went to double check with customer services and they confirmed that you have to scan before items go through. Would have been nice if the checkout asst had mentioned this 1st!

Has kind of left a sour taste as the rewards are a bit scant in the 1st place. Doesn’t make us want to use it - at least with Tesco you have a couple weeks to take receipts in for the points to be attributed.
Thanks for this info, will make
    sure They scan before check
    out in future !
I only ever use the self-checkout and always scan that app AFTER I have scanned all the items. On the payment option screen it then tells you to scan the app. Odd that it would be the other way around for cashier tills.

One annoyance though is the app doesn't like the patchy internet connection, and although it usually says it is okay to scan when offline it sometimes just locks up loading instead. I had a £90 shop and although the app was loaded offline there was no barcode to scan. I completed the shop and went to customer services who said nothing could be done after the shop was completed.

Why not just print a hard copy?
I've had no problems scanning it this way.

    Cheers

My biggest gripe is in store promotion of the offers, there isn't any, so it is pot luck if you pick up any cash back.  In Tesco the offers are glaringly obvious and if you haven't done your homework you can see them as you go along.  Asda don't seem to do any of this, maybe just my local is slack on ticketing, but nothing is obvious when shopping.
  • A word to the wise - two recent issues with Asda Rewards that I've had:

    1. I signed up to Asda online shopping in March 2020. Used it during the pandemic, but shop 95% of the time instore these days, very ocassional online delivery order. I signed up for the rewards app eight weeks ago, and have used it with varying success instore since then. However, did an online order about 10 days ago, but could not work out how to get the rewards. Could find nothing on the website or FAQs about what the issue was. Phoned Asda and they explained you have to use the same email address for the app that you used for online shopping when you signed up years ago. Nothing to be done, but will obviously now open a new online shopping account with the right email address.
A bit of a pain to put it mildly as i have shopping lists saved etc. Main gripe is why such a key bit of crucial information is not really highlighted when you sign up for the app or try and resolve it later.

    2. Shopping instore last weekend, went through the checkout, went to open the app to get it scanned, and it wouldnt open. Never happened previously but it wanted me to log in and I couldn't, tried to reset the password but couldn't - queue behind me so had to give up. Spent £152 including star buys so hacked off and feeling a bit conned by the whole thing. Couldn't go to customer services as 15 people in the queue and I had frozen food.

Emailed Asda about it, sent a receipt scan - and they don't want to know. Also they don;t seem bothered about my first issue either.
Both of these follows a previous time on 27th Dec when I scanned the app (as shown on the receipt), yet it didn't credit me any reward. Took some running around to get that sorted.

Suffice to say, I have taken a screenshot of my reward card in the app as a backup in case I can't open the app again!
