One slight niggle is that I always use an Asda gift card to pay (my wife gets 4% off when topping up due to a union membership deal she gets) and the system can't refund the 1p to that so has to give you 1p cash! More annoying is that if using self-service (I always do) a "colleague" has to approve that

EDIT: A further annoyance identified having just got back from an Asda trip: As I always pay by gift card I never take any notice of the "This till only accepts cards" notice. I always vaguely assumed it mean the cash mechanism was full or faulty.

However, I just found out that some self-service tills are always cash card only, they don't have a cash mechanism. So, if you use one of those as I did, it cannot pay you the penny! This confuses the staff no end and it is easier to give up and leave without it.

Thanks for the correction. Post edited now.

Can anyone tell me if I were to buy two 'super star' products in one shop, would I get 2x the amount or is it just limited to one of each product? Ie the Bold exotic has £3.50 back, would I get £7 back if I bought 2 in one shop?

It's not limited to one product type per shop, so in your example you'd get double the amount for purchasing two items.

Why don't Asda just put their prices down a bit instead of all this gimmicky nonsense, then everyone can benefit?

Because this kind of data collection can only be done a) with the customer's consent and legwork, and b) electronically at the scale it is required.

I ignored this for a while as I am not a frequent Asda shopper, although I do have a 10% off facility with my blue light card. I am wondering if discounts are stackable (would I get 20% off?) or does it offer no advantage over everyone else now?

So much to read, so little time.

Being as you don't get the 10% off at the till with the app, you get a rolling "cashpot" then I think you'd still be able to use the blue light card at the till. So you'd get 10% off your total bill at the till plus the extra amounts in your cashpot that you redeem at a later date (which, depending on what you buy, may it may not be 10%).

However, and this is where it would fall down for you, to redeem the cashpot you'd need to scan the rewards app at the till before paying, so your total would be reduced by the cashpot voucher and then you'd get your blue light discount on the smaller total.

I may be wrong with my understanding of this but these are just my thoughts on what I know from using the Asda rewards app. Happy to be corrected by more knowledgeable people 🙂

  • I shopped on the 19th September, scanned the app, it registered as Asda Rewards on the receipt and its still not showing in the app. Phone their ‘helpline’ now 5 times and have been on hold a min of 30 minutes each time to get fed up and hang up, anyone else have purchase not showing and managed to get them on?

I love this app! 3 weeks of what I would order anyway and my vouchers are nearly £17

I use the app in conjunction with my Asda CC and get money in my cash pot off both.

@sarah1972 I found the same, but be aware that is because you are achieving easy "milestones" initially which pay big. Once you have completed those the rewards go down considerably.
