Likewise  - all it does is slow down the checkouts
Why does it slow down the checkouts?

My local Asda was one of the stores doing the trial and I have successfully converted quite a few vouchers and got money off my shopping, since it started around October time I think.
I use Scan & Go, certainly no slowing down there unless you have to faff around finding your phone  in the same way as those paying cash spend an age rummaging for the odd 5p and those paying with chip and pin that have to find the card then remember the pin. My phone is out anyway to pay.  If you are paying with a voucher it is pre loaded so a simple scan of the app barcode, which you have to do anyway, pays with the voucher.

I spent a total of £17 over 2 small shops, buying things I actually went in for and not influenced by the app offers, and have got £2.20 in rewards so a 13% discount to spend on future shops plus 2p off my bills .

I use scan & go as well.  I really CBA'd with all that loading it all onto the checkout and then repacking it again.   We don't usually spend long paying.

I'm a bit confused as to what all this means.  I only found out about it when I booked an online delivery on Sunday.  It only mentions the mobile app so I was assuming that once again those of us who have older phones and don't understand apps were left out in the cold.  However comments on here seem to imply that it does work with online shopping.  I've tried reading up on it on the website and unfortunately it's as clear as mud to me.  So can anyone tell me whether solely shopping online through their website for home delivery is included in this scheme?

Why don't Asda just put their prices down a bit instead of all this gimmicky nonsense, then everyone can benefit?

You do need the app.  The app is linked to your on line account through the same log in credentials and management of the missions and vouchers is done through the app.  So if you have not got a smart phone you can't participate.

Because then they would not be able to clear out old stock or seasonal items under the guise of "bargain"

I've been using it for a few weeks and here are my observations:

    1. Their website doesn't make it clear (doesn't mention it at all!) that you do not earn points as a % of your shop, or 1 point per £1 spend like others. The only things that earn you money are Missions, Milestones and Star Products. Asda confirmed that by email.

    2. I have only done four or five shops and earned £20! They can't afford to keep this up I thought! I was right; you get "lots" of £ initially because you complete the milestones. I didn't bother to look at these,  but essentially I have completed them all now! So, they make it seem like you are going to get loads of money to keep you coming back, but the rewards have now tailed off significantly!

    3. Missions are ways to get you to buy stuff - e.g. get rewards for sending £15 on BBQ products this weekend. I won't be doing those.

    4. I haven't seen any "Star" products flagged on the shelves but I assume there must be some.

    5. Slightly strange that separately to the rewards accrued you also get 1p off every shop. This is a flat 1p no matter how much you spend and seems to be refunded to your credit/debit card rather than taken off the total before payment - a bit odd!

One slight niggle is that I always use an Asda gift card to pay (my wife gets 4% off when topping up due to a union membership deal she gets) and the system can't refund the 1p to that so has to give you 1p cash! More annoying is that if using self-service (I always do) a "colleague" has to approve that!

EDIT: A further annoyance identified having just got back from an Asda trip: As I always pay by gift card I never take any notice of the "This till only accepts cards" notice. I always vaguely assumed it mean the cash mechanism was full or faulty.

However, I just found out that some self-service tills are always card only, they don't have a cash mechanism. So, if you use one of those as I did, it cannot pay you the penny! This confuses the staff no end and it is easier to give up and leave without it!

    6. If you want to have a shared account (wife sometimes does the shopping) then you can't link two accounts. Asda advise me that the only way is to both use the same login to the app - no big deal.
Great that I have £20 free money as all I have done is my usual shopping, but we will see how much money I get going forward.

One tip I have thought of: keep registering a new account with a different email address to get the initial milestone money! Don't know if it is possible (can't remember if setting up an account requires other details that it could cross check) but worth doing if it is.

Don't understand that one. The receipt has a 1p Asda Rewards deduction shown, it also adds any rewards redemption to that 1p,  and the resulting total is what is debited from my card.

I haven't redeemed any rewards so maybe that is when it uses the 1p as a deduction from the total. TBH I was making an assumption that it doesn't deduct the 1p as it has to give it as change when I pay with a gift card.
