Order from Lebara and they will send you a new sim. Payment is by a recurring payment from Paypal or a Debit/Credit card.

Once the new sim is activated and all is good (the coverage should be the same as Asda since both use the Vodafone network) then you can request the PAC from Asda to move your number.

Order the second SIM just like the first. When you create a Lebara account ("My Lebara") you can add/attach up to four SIMs to it. Account isn't (AFAIK) required but it allows you to monitor usage etc.

Many thanks for that  I read somewhere the account had to be up and running before adding more SIMS but that seemed odd.

You can change payment method and stop recurring in the app if you want to leave.

Unfortunaely with no post today and the deal ending just before lunch tomorrow it looks like I don't have this option. I'm assuming I need the SIM number to activate the account?

The deal applies at the point that you order the SIM (and pay for month 1). You will need the sim number to create an account but an account is not required.

thanks for that. Just spoke on chat and they suggest ordering today with a different email address but the same card. Then set up the account once the first SIM comes.

Is there a maximum time between receipt of sim and activation? I still have 2 months left on a Vodafone contract for which I think I'd have to pay a penalty so want to let that run out before I activate this sim - or does the 1 p a month already start from point of ordering the sim?

Believe that billing starts at the point of ordering when the first payment is taken. The sim is activated when you first put it in a phone and connect to the network.

The recurring payments(of 1p) start when you activate your sim, the 1p from purchase covers the first month.

I got mine 9th Aug, activated 27 Aug  expires 25th Sept(30days not a month) auto renew will then take another 1p for the next 30days.

As for how long you get,  reports on HUKD are 30days 60 days and 90days.
keep an eye on the HUKD Lebara posts as people report their on things like when they activated.

some got extra sims and will activate one 30days then the other later to extend  the back end if it works.

Not so practical if you are porting your number, we have dual sim and don't bother porting to our data sims which means we can swap them about easily(RWG and some 3 data rewards)
