Thanks for the discussion. We've published an MSE News story about this which you can read below:

Now they're talking about restoring services overnight, so may not be working today at all

I hoped to move savings from a low interest rate ISA to a better rate fixed for one year with Coventry. I spoke to 'Coventry' on 31 July, before the breakdown, and was told that I could apply on line and that the account I was interested in would be closing to new applicants after 01 August. On the strength of that (Coventry Loyalty Bond (3) paying 2.75% interest would be much better than ISA interest (with limited access) of 1.25%. I already have a savings account with Coventry and have had no problems before. So:I closed my ISA and the next day 01 August the money was in my Current Account. Just as I tried to log in to open the new account and transfer the proceeds from my ISA to what I thought would be my newly opened Coventry Savings Account (Loyalty Bond 3), the site went down. The Coventry Loyalty Bond (3) has disappeared from the Savings Accounts on Coventry Home Page. I telephoned and a helpful man at Coventry explained that 'pipline' applicants would be allowed to open the, now closed to new applicants, account for ? a few days after the system is working again. They have no record of my enquiries but I'm hoping the information given will be honoured. Meantime my former 'ISA' savings are sitting in my current account. I hope I'm not too late to open and move them to the new account.Like everyone else I have had no access to my Coventry account on line and will be glad once things are back to normal.0

You can get better than 2.75% for 1 year fixed accounts. https://moneyfacts.co.uk/savings-accounts/1-year-fixed-rate-bonds/?quick-links-first=false1

I have looked at the link. I know it should not make a difference, since all the providers are safe, but I'm not familiar with many of them. I have heard of Charter Savings Bank (on the list) but I don't know much about it.I don't have a lot of savings and already have a savings account with Coventry. I'll see what happens once Coventry is back on line.I really appreciate your reply and taking the time to send the link.

If I want to save with any of these banks or building society’s, I like to call and ask questions.
If they don’t answer calls to new savers, what’s going to happen when they have your money and you have an issue.
I nearly went with smart save a while back, until I found out they don’t have a telephone number to call.1 -

If I take the 1 year fixed list on MoneyFacts and open it up by selecting "show more" going all the way down to Natiowide at 2%, with the exception of FCMB, State Bank of India, Union Bank of India, Arbuthnot Direct and Brown Shipley, I've had or currently have accounts with every one in the list and I've never spoken to anyone, at any time, through any medium, at any of them..1 -
Still no Coventry Loyalty Bond monthly interest in my NatWest account today.I phoned them late yesterday afternoon and was told it was probably all part of the problem, and they hoped to get it sorted overnight.
Just have to be patient I suppose.0 -
Just been able to log in to Coventry ok this morning, but noticed Marcus has now risen to 1.5%, so looks like moving much of the money back there again!0

Thought that went out with the Ark.
Edit. Just deleted the Coventry cookies and I got in. It also now has the option of a text confirmation which I prefer to a phone call.1
