Yes, I saw that. Others are adamant they are receiving theirs by text. I thought you might have figured out how.

If I could be bothered I would call and ask for a text message as email is only option.
But it’s not that important to me.

@masonic I just think it's the fact that the way you add the notifications is not obvious to some, I am pretty sure it is there for everyone on the Android version, cannot comment about other platforms.

At first I though the NOTIFICATIONS line on the account view would be some information Al Rayan were sending me, not the actual set up tab.
I have no problem setting the notifications up
    I do.

I cannot even see any Settings, and not to talk about delivery methods.

iOS 15.6, Al Rayan app 5.6.0

Do you not have a set of tabs between your Balance + Available Balance and transaction history...
    Payments, Statements, Notifications, Account info
    ?
  • @daliah, it is not in settings.

Open the app and go to one of your accounts.

    Look at the line below

    Balance - Available Balance

    You should see

    Payments    Statements   Notifications

Touch the Notifications area and a new screen will appear with "Add Notification" you can then set up alerts after touching that.

It is very confusing having a NOTIFICATIONS line that is not actual there to TELL you anything but is in effect the Notifications SETTINGS button.

Oh right, yes I can see it now, many thanks for the detailed guidance.

Only alert method I have is email.

As stated before, the only alert option I have in 'notifications' is also email.
    But I still get texts.
As I also said before, the texts aren't using the notifications functionality - because I get a text notification tested down to a £5 credit, maybe less.

I can even turn off notifications in Manage Notifications at the app level... and I still get text alerts  :)

That controls push notifications sent by the app, so wouldn't affect a SMS over your phone network. The only thing I can think of is that this has been manually set up for you by Al Rayan at some point in the past.
  • @Rollinghome and @masonic update on how to close accounts.

As previously advised I requested closure of my two redundant savings accounts by Secure Message.

    Request sent 1259 1st August.

This morning I received a message at 0837 saying my request had been actioned and the accounts are gone.

That saved me writing a letter !
