Have you set up notifications by emails?0 -

They are no different to other banks regarding withdrawals. Certainly, with most banks, if you make a withdrawal to a new payee of say more than £1000, then in my experience it is likely to be held/stopped and you will generally have to contact them. Santander are a nightmare when trying to move large amounts to new payees. Chase Bank also don't like movements of large amounts of money to new payess. Last month I forced Chase to pay me some compensation when for five days some money disappeared from my account and did not appear in the designated account.Oasis1 said:Malchester said:
Same here. Won't use them again after I requested a transfer online early one Friday afternoon and by Monday evening it hadn't come through. I rang them and they said it needed releasing but were not going to tell me that, it was up to me to chase it up. Also you cannot close an account except in writing. They ask for lots of personal details (like net wealth). When I queried it they said they were required to ask that question by law - a lie. And they insisted on me having a phone conversation before I opened the account. So no matter what the interest rate I will never use them againDaliah said:
Last time I used them, about 5 months ago, they only made payments on working daysRollinghome said:
They do. Can take an hour or two to show sometimes.jimexbox said:Do Al Rayan support faster payments?
Thanks for sharing your experience. That makes it a no for me as I want an account I can easily withdraw from whenver I need it!I mean, I moved £50k from Nationwide to Chase across 5 payments one after the other, so I don't think generalising across all banks is helpful. I don't want a bank that I can't make transfers from on a weekend. Thanks for the heads up on Chase though. Now waiting to see how interest rates move on other bank accounts after today's announcement.0 -

21K this morning and still no texts or emails.Ive just been on the desktop and looked around the account.I now get an email for deposits, or I should. But cant find anyway to get texts.Dont mind as its fully funded for now.3 more base rate rises this year and a 5 year fixed it is for me.0 -
@Daliah I don't follow your logic, unless you're theorising that a newer customer may have loaded a more recent issue of the AR software/app? ETA app version 5.6.0Bigwheels1111 said:Ive just been on the desktop and looked around the account.I now get an email for deposits, or I should. But cant find anyway to get texts.Dont mind as its fully funded for now.3 more base rate rises this year and a 5 year fixed it is for me.Daliah said:I made two deposits into Issue 3 yesterday. Didn't get any notification that they were received.
Perhaps it's to do with the overall length of membership - I have held various accounts with them for at least 8 years
I've been with them about the same time as you, but (& @Bigwheels1111) I'm pretty sure it's connected to the app, as I don't ever remember it happening (by text) from desktop only days.0 -
PS Edited above to add app version 5.6.00

So, folks, here is today's update.
I have been with Al Rayan from when they had proper internet access prior to being forced use to the app and the Desktop Portal which just actually mirrors the app functionality.
I have never had any notifications enabled by default and only sought them out yesterday after reading about the SMS situation.
Both the app and desktop portal allow you to add notifications for an account, but they are not "global" and must be added for each account individually from the menu.
The only option on either is "email", which I set up yesterday on Savings Issue 3 for any credit above £150.
I set up Al Rayan as a payee in my Chase app last night in order to save the extra step of moving it through Nationwide.
As an aside, I have moved £25000 x 3 from Chase > NW without issue in the last 3 days and then in chunks to Al Rayan due to NW's limits.
Now the fun starts.
0752, being a cautious chap and heeding the warnings about Chase and new payees, I transferred £200 from Chase to Al Rayan.
0759, the system works!
I received an email from Al Rayan saying a large credit was received into my account ending XXXX at 0758.
0911, filled with joy and breakfast, I sent a further £11000 on the same journey.
0912, received an app notification from Chase that the transfer was being held for checks, usually completed in "a couple of hours"
Damnation !
After 2 hours I sent an in-app message and they assured me it would be passed to the specialist team for attention.
1515, thoroughly annoyed I requested a callback via the app.
That worked and after passing security and twenty questions the funds were released at 1545.
1551, email received from Al Rayan confirming the deposit reached them at 1550.
Conclusion, Al Rayan email notifications work fine, Chase can be a pain.
Now hoping Al Rayan may tweak their profit rate after the lunchtime announcement from the BoE.
No apologies for the long post, I did start the topic after all !
Hope you are all having a good day.

It's a mystery to me too how SMS notifications can be set up. The only option for me is email, which I'm perfectly satisfied with, but it doesn't make much sense that some have it and some don't. I'm on 5.6.0 too, btwsoulsaver said:

@masonic I just think it's the fact that the way you add the notifications is not obvious to some, I am pretty sure it is there for everyone on the Android version, cannot comment about other platforms.
At first I though the NOTIFICATIONS line on the account view would be some information Al Rayan were sending me, not the actual set up tab.0 -
I have no problem setting the notifications up, just don't have the options others have. So you have SMS as an option in the 'Delivery method' section? I have email as my only choice there.The_Fat_Controller said:@masonic I just think it's the fact that the way you add the notifications is not obvious to some, I am pretty sure it is there for everyone on the Android version, cannot comment about other platforms.
