Thank you for continuing to run the thread elsiepac. Please can I join in again properly this month with an increased budget of
£100
to take account of increasing prices and the need to stock up for the winter. This is for all food, household, toiletries and alcohol for me only.Grocery challenge 2025: £650/1500 annual budget7 -
Thank you @elsiepac for the new thread.
We will probably be away for the start of august, so with this in mind my budget is going to be from 5th august until 2nd September. The first part of the month will come from the holiday pot. I did want to stick with the same budget, but I don’t want to waste the time off with the kids worrying constantly about the food bill so I am going to up it this month and see how we get on. As would like to do more cooking/baking with them while they are all home. I’m hoping the increase means I won’t have to think about it as much but also hope I don’t go overboard at the same time, see worrying alreadyMy august budget is £200 please 🙏🏻
This is for all food, drinks, cleaning and toiletries for the month. Shouldn’t need any alcohol as stocked up for husbands birthdayAlso need to get a months worth of dental chews for the dogs as they have completely run out now.

August budget of £155 please.
Evening all! I am looking forward to this challenge. Ideally I would like to keep things under £140. I assign £30/week for shopping and other day to day expenditure such as bus fares, household essentials and the like. Veg box costs £17.50 a box (I get one fortnightly) from a local cooperative. This is budgeted for separately in a completely separate account.Mortgage free by 33 - (21/07/22 - 32 years and a bit...)
Most DIY problems can be solved by a combination of spanner, pliers, screwdriver, Allan key and a blade. (Hold it, twist it, cut it!) Very occasionally industrial language, a hammer and an adhesive may need to be added to the mix. (Curse it, hit it, patch it!)8 -
My first time joining, exciting!
150£ budget please
This is for all household and food expenses for me and one cat (I'd say it's a pretty even split as he only eats grain free meat tins and is very fussy about his litter)
I need to put an order with z00plus this week since I'm running out of everything for him, which will use a big chunk of our budget, but luckily I'm well stocked on meat so it shouldn't be too tight.
Pub etc is coming out of separate fun budget, so any outings won't be included here.9 -
Welcome @Nisssha hope you enjoy this thread. I joined at the beginning of this year and although I notoriously go over budget it does help to keep me focused on my spending. £145 for me please
My budget runs from 27th July to 25th August and is for food and cleaning products. Doesn't include toiletries, alcohol, eating out/takeaways or sports nutrition. For one active vegan female.
I'm trying some new recipes this month, including:
Mushroom and Leek Orzo https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/one-pan_mushroom_and_04696
Tarka Dahl Tarka dal with rice recipe - BBC Food
I'll let you know how I get on- they were from that cheap recipe list from a while ago.
I've put in a Tesc0 order for Thurs evening which included a 10kg bag of rice, so this month might be a bit tight.

Looks like I haven't set our budget for next month yet! I think I'm going to stick to
£550
for August, please; still feeding 5/6. Although it's historically a less-expensive month for us, with various Offspring trotting off up mountains/sailing the 7 seas etc., and garden/hedgerow/allotment produce taking some of the strain, there's a bit of major stocking-up to do (flour etc.) and the fact that vast numbers of family are descending on us for DGS's birthday celebrations and at other points in the month for a few days' country & seaside air.Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)8 -
Budgets updated to here!
Welcome all the new joiners, I'm trying to get back on it this month.
I've made a list of the stock type things I've run out of/running low on so I know I have a biggish bulk buy to start but I am isolating that part of the budget.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old Style, Crafting and Techie Stuff boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know.
