The other factor at this time of year is diesel gets a bit dearer compared to petrol as the demand for heating oil goes up. Not that there’s much you can do about it, apart from use your bicycle more often.
Indeed.  Our cars are petrol but the economy isnt great as they're big engined.

I have to say, i do try to drive less these days.  I just begrudge paying the weasels.

Have any electric car owners here worked out the cost of charging now that electricity has got so much dearer? How does it compare with running a smoke belcher these days?

Depends on circumstance and energy deals i suppose....

I have a plug in hybrid Ford Kuga which takes around 10kwh to charge and i am on a duel tariff with Octopus. Before October i was with Eon paying 21p per kw so it was costing me around £2.10 per day to charge my car.  Now I'm on Octopus go i pay 7.5p off peak for 4hours a night (It takes 5hours per night to charge so 4hr plus 1hr at peak 40p per kwh) and its costing me around £1.40 per night to charge it.

Around 2p a mile here. 4 miles per kWh (average) at 7.5p a unit. Plus over the summer a reasonable amount free from my solar. Even today I shoved in just over 4 free miles before I found something else for my surplus solar.

I can go a radius of ~100 miles before I'd need to consider charging to get back home again. Very occasionally I get a bit of free charging at Tescos as well.

So running costs are a bargain. Higher initial cost and who knows what the car will be worth in a few years of course, but it seems like you’re still looking good.

A lot of EVs are leased or company cars, so i guess that would help mitigate the future value risk, though they have up until now been holding their value well.

Well did anyone avail of the Go 20ppl off offer today?

    https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/go-petrol-stations-northern-ireland-petrol-1319-diesel-1559-until-7pm-4034902

    On until 19:00 tonight.

I got caught up in the traffic jams in Portadown today on the Armagh Road.  Took about 20 mins to get past it.

On the plus side, generally, i see petrol seems to be down to 151.9ppl in some areas.

Gee, thank you marketing person who came up with this *brilliant idea* without considering the consequences on traffic...

It took me an extra 20 minutes getting home this evening, due to the shore road jammed in both directions.

Indeed.  A complete disaster for traffic.
