Unfortunately, prices seem to be in the up again. The 154.9p places seem to be 159.9p now. A garage local to me has just jacked its prices up to 179.9p. Guess which petrol station won’t be getting any business.
Oil’s got dearer, but more significantly, the pound has sunk against the dollar in recent weeks.

I see they're rolling out e10 fuel as of today, instead of e5.

According to some, economy isnt as good on it as e5.

Will have to see how it performs i guess.

So at a time of rising food prices and precarious supplies of grain, we’re using farm land to grow petrol. Is anyone  in charge here?
Er, no? You do follow the news? There hasn't been anyone in charge for the last few years...

Will truss make it to the end of the year? It all seems pointless.

Not anyone sensible, that’s for sure.
Despite high prices, the volume of traffic doesn’t appear to have lessened. We’re still buying it so there’s not much incentive for suppliers to cut prices. Sellers market.

I’d say a lot of people are in a  position where their lives have been constructed around an expectation of affordable transport, living far from employment.
We were talking about this last night - when I was at school in Portadown, all the teachers lived “in this parish” apart from one who commuted from somewhere near Moira, around 10 miles away. That was considered extreme back then. Judging by the motorway nowadays, commuting from Dungannon to Belfast seems to be common. Expensive.

WFH has mitigated this for many, but yes, there are still plenty who still commute in to belfast from satellite towns for several or more days a week.

A more efficient car or car sharing might be the answer for them to help further offset costs.

For my first job "back in the day" i used to commute Waringstown -> Antrim daily and we car pooled, meeting near the lurgan roundabout or the moira roundabout.  I think there was maybe 9 of us coming from Armagh, Portadown, Lurgan area, Moira in 2 or sometimes 3 cars.

I also commuted from Tandragee to Newtownabbey daily for a couple of years.  I'd a car that did 60mpg+ for that, but was still a horrible commute.
